Under the background of accelerating the modernization of education and concentrating on cultivating innovative talents,a host of schoolbased Maker courses at home and abroad have emerged. There are a large variety of Maker courses, and its development not only requires integration of the actual academic situation, geographical characteristics, objective conditions and other factors, but also calls for STEAM-based guidance,so as to achieve interdisciplinary integration,problem-based learning and project-based learning. From the literature,it is found that the current Maker courses are mostly based on information technology or science disciplines, lacking profound multi-disciplinary integration, especially the design of A(culture and art)dimension. This study attempts to integrate the twenty-four solar terms as a dimension of A(culture and art)into the School-based Maker Course based on the STEAM concept, and to explore the improvement of cultural connotation, technical competence and innovation ability of junior high school students in this course. The research focuses on two major issues:(1)Exploring the architectural model, general process and principles of the junior high school Maker course based on the STEAM education concept, and providing theoretical focus and practical case support for subsequent research.(2)Seeking ways to enhance the cultural connotation of the Maker course, taking the development and practice of “Following Solar Terms to Be a Maker” as an example, exploring a path that integrates traditional Chinese culture with the maker course to enrich the training models of A(culture and art)competence in the STEAM discipline competence and the STEAM education cases. With the students of the 7th and 8th grades of Hangzhou W School as the practical object, through demand assessment and resource survey, this study adopts the school-based curriculum development process based on Taylor's principle to develop the course of “Following Solar Terms to Be a Maker”.After three rounds of action research, the curriculum implementation research, the teaching effects are analyzed and evaluated from the perspective of questionnaire, individual interviews, works analysis. The study found that the STEAM-based school-based Maker course “Following Solar Terms to Be a Maker” is feasible, which is conducive to students' understanding and promotion of the culture of solar terms, stimulating the enthusiasm of makers, and enhancing the ability to innovate. The innovation of this study lies in the fact that China's typical outstanding traditional culture,24 solar terms,is the dimension of A(culture and art),which is integrated into the design and implementation of the STEAM Maker course, providing empirical reference for follow-up research in enriching STEAM education cases and developing new ideas of Maker education.
