The stage of junior high school students is the peak period of physiological and psychological development,and is the key period for individuals to start exploring and forming a comprehensive self-concept.As the individual's perception of his or her own body shape and appearance,physical self-cognition is the core element of self-concept.And it has a profound impact on the physical and mental health of junior high school students.Physical self-cognition affects the attitude,feeling and behavior of individuals in social interaction.When individuals have negative cognition and evaluation of their physical appearance,it will lead to avoidance and fear of social situations and form social shyness.At present,few studies on the influence factors of shyness in China have focused on the variable of physical self in self-concept,and most studies on physical self focus on college students,especially female subjects,but not with junior high school students as the research objects.This study used The Adolescent Physical Self Scale and The Shyness Scale to survey 813 junior high school students in five middle school in Beijing.Through SPSS19.0 and Amos21.0 statistical analysis software,the data were processed and analyzed to explore the present situation,characteristics and relationship between physical self-cognition and shyness level of junior high school students.The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)Junior high school students' physical self and cognition of each dimension are significantly negatively correlated with shyness level.(2)Physical self,appearance features,sports features and negative features have significant negative effects on shyness level.(3)The overall physical self-cognition of junior high school students is higher,and there are significant differences in gender,mother's education level and BMI.Among them,male students,mothers with high educational level,BMI is lean,and normal physical self-cognition are better than female students,mothers with low educational level,and obesity.(4)There are significant differences in the shyness level of junior middle school students in gender,grade,origin,whether only child,whether single-parent family and parents' education level.Among them,The shyness level of male students are lower than female students;Urban students are lower than the rural students.Only child students are lower than non-only child students;Students from non-single parent families are lower than single parent families;Lower grade students are lower than higher grade students;Students with high parents' educational level are better than those with low parents' educational level.Based on the analysis of the data,this study puts forward four-in-one countermeasures and suggestions for society,school,family and students.Creating a good media culture and an open social environment;Strengthen social environmental supervision and legislation and other measures to guide teenagers to establish correct body and social values;Actively promote school mental health education,attach importance to psychological screening and differentiated education,give full play to the role of sports;Create a warm and harmonious family environment,improve their parents' educational level;Encourage junior high school students to accept themselves and companions,and seek psychological assistance when they are confused,and so on,to provide effective coping strategies for teenagers to form a healthy body and social value.
