Research On Operational Problems Of The University Alumni Association

With the continuous expansion of school autonomy and the growing demand for resources of its own development,Chinese universities have been trying to seek as much external resources as possible to promote their own construction and development.As an important kind of school-running resources,alumni have been paid more and more attention by universities and University Alumni Associations.Meanwhile,all the world first-class university accordingly has first-class alumni work,and the organization to gather alumni resources and carryout the alumni work is the University Alumni Association.The efficient and reasonable operation of the alumni association is the necessary condition to carry out the work of alumni,to condense and make use of the alumni resources.In this way,this study tries to analyze the current operating situation of the University Alumni Association in China,explore the existing problems,and put forward the improvement strategies to promote the efficient and reasonable operation of the University Alumni Association.The first step is to define the basic concept of this study,and analyze the theoretical basis of this study from three aspects:social network,norms of reciprocity and mutual trust.Based on literature research and related web information searching,the second step is to simply introduce the historical development overview of the University Alumni Association in China.According to the time sequence,the history of development of the University Alumni Association in China is divided into three stages:the embryonic stage,the stagnating stage and the exploration stage of its development.Thirdly,select the W University,H University,K University Alumni Association in W City as study cases.Through the interview survey to 71 alumni and staffs in alumni association of these three universities,this study tries to present the operating situation of the three university alumni associations from the aspects of operating mode,operating mechanism and organizational development status.Then the primal operating problems of the three university alumni associations can be further summarized and found,such as the rigid operating mode,the single employing form,the alumni activities with thick utilitarian color,the whole group of alumni with insufficient attention,and so on.Finally,based on the consideration of the operating problems existing in the three university alumni associations of the city of W,and the successful operating experiences of the American University Alumni Association,the possible strategies to improve the operating situation of the University AlumniAssociation in our country are thus put forward.For example,change the operating mode duly,optimize the structure of the work team,expand the social network of the alumni association,and so on.
