The Research On Development Of Chinese University Alumni Association

In recent years, numerous Chinese education authorities have taken spillover factors such as the number of outstanding alumni, the scale of alumni donations into consideration in the comprehensive ranking in colleges and universities in China. It can be seen that the influence of alumni resources on comprehensive strength of a school is gradually rising, and the potential of alumni resources is receiving more and more attention of the public opinion. Therefore, the universities have come to appreciate the alumni organizations and relevant construction of activities, the communication with alumni resources to strengthen comprehensive strength of Alma mater.Alumni are the people who in the same school or institute, studied and worked together, can only be called alumni after learning together for a certain time limit. And alumni circle is a potential resource carrier. The alumni association is responsible for communication, connection and integration of the alumni resources, feeding and serving the Alma mater, releasing the positive energy. Whether setup alumni association organization well and realize the good practice or not, is crucial to a school alumni’s life development, determining the future of a university. In this paper, the author, during the undergraduate years, had the honor to join the alumni association, benefit and inspire thinking from this, using Jilin university for example to analyse and discusse. At present, the function and role of alumni association mainly in contacting alumni, serving alumni, organizing activities The Jilin university’s alumni association acting in two forms: the school alumni association and outside the regional branch to serve the alumni. belonging to the association construction in colleges and universities started relatively late with not big scale,among the domestic same type alumni. However, after the year 2000 that the school had integrated, it had the largest number of alumni, and gradually regarded alumni association and alumni culture construction work as a priority.Through the study of western countries alumni association we can found that the development history of the alumni association has characteristics of a long development time, high degree of attention, personnel transferred to manage, perfect alumni donation mechanism, has reached the mature stage of development. by contrast, there are many practical problems in university alumni association organization construction in our country, such as alumni consciousness is weak, institutional framework is not clear, disordered management and lack of funds and so on. It still needs a long process to face and solve problems. Achieving this, requires colleges, universities, public opinion and alumni association itself and other multi-channel sources to propagandize and guide, as well as the constant innovation of higher education system in our country, to improve multi-dimensionally and multi-levelly. Aiming at the current problems, it can be addressed by enhancing awareness, improving the organizational structure, strengthening the policy support and establishing a correct concept and other ways.
