A Study On The Frame Of News Report Of Chinese Women's Volleyball Team In Olympic Games In Chinese Sports Daily

China Sports Daily is China's earliest governmental sports daily,which was administered by the General Administration of Sport of China and published by the China Sports Publications Corporation in 1958.By delving into the characteristics of the news reporting framework of the Chinese national women's volleyball team in China Sports Daily during the period of nine Olympic Games from 1984 to 2016,the present dissertation makes a summary and provides the reasonable suggestions for the news coverage of the Chinese national women's volleyball team and other sports events in China Sports Daily in the future large-scale sports events,making this study theoretically and practically meaningful.As a traditional strong team,the Chinese national women's volleyball team has proud standings,which won five consecutive championships in the1980 s,two consecutive championships from 2003 to 2004,and another two consecutive championships from 2015 to 2016 in the world competition.Since the 1980 s,the team has won four World Cup championships,three Olympic championships and two world championships.All these fruitful achievements have far-reaching impacts on Chinese people.Therefore,this dissertation selects the reports on the Chinese national women's volleyball team in China Sports Daily during the period of Olympic Games from 1984 to2016 as the research objects.With literature review method,content analysis method and framework analysis method,this dissertation summarizes the characteristics of the news coverage of the Chinese national women's volleyball team on report topics,content,layout,schema structure,genre,image use,news source,report size and report tendencies during the nine Olympic Games.First,in terms of the reporting theme,the news coverage of the Chinese national women's volleyball team in China Sports Daily during the Olympic Games focused more on competition reports,and the contents of the reports prefer the expression of performance and individual emotions.Second,in terms of the reporting structure,the report genre and layout of the Chinese national women's volleyball team in China Sports Daily during the Olympic Games become increasingly stable.In addition to news,the genre is mainly commentary.The analysis and evaluation of the team's competition process and the reaction and feedback of the team players or coaches to the competition process have become acommonly used technique for reporting the national team during the Olympic Games in China Sports Daily.Third,in terms of reporting discourse,although the number of reports on the Chinese national women's volleyball team during the Olympic Games fluctuated with the achievements of the team and the development of China Sports Daily itself,the percentage of the team's reports still occupied an unsurpassable amount in the total volume of volleyball reports and almost all of the reports on the team come from the reporters of China Sports Daily.Seen from the above analysis,the news coverage of the Chinese national women's volleyball team during the Olympic Games has its own deficiencies: in the framework of reporting theme,it is difficult to balance the achievements of �winning gold� and �winning prizes�;in the framework of reporting structure,news reports are the main focus and there is a lack of in-depth reporting;in the framework of reporting discourse,the total number of the reports on the team is greatly affected by its performance.Therefore,this dissertation proposes corresponding countermeasures for the above deficiencies: downplaying the reporting framework of achievement for �winning gold� and �winning prizes�;promoting the Olympic theme of �faster,higher and stronger�;strengthening comprehensive in-depth coverage and increasing follow-up reports;balancing the reports of the team in different performance periods and promoting the development of volleyball.
