The Impact Of Cross-national Friendship On Intergroup Attitudes: The Mediating Role Of Social Support And Intimacy

China is a multi-ethnic country.With the Minority and the Han at the same school,the integration of the Minority and the Han is becoming more common,and the interaction between ethnic groups is becoming more frequent.Under the background of frequent ethnic exchanges and even the formation of cross-national friendship,can it be promoted through research? Measures such as positive inter-group attitudes to maintain national unity are an urgent problem to be solved.From the perspective of psychology,under the conditions of external social support and intimate relationship,paying attention to the attitudes of individual ethnic groups and Han nationality groups after establishing cross-national friendship to their entire nation will help to understand the national issues in a deeper way.Based on the theory of self-expansion,this study will analyze and explore the relationship between cross-national friendship and inter-group attitudes between students of Tibetan and Han nationalities,as well as social support and intimacy.The intermediary role provides a basis for better promoting inter-group attitudes.In the study,a Tibetan middle school student(n=188)in the northwestern area was used as the research object,using the cross-national friendship scale,the social support scale,the intimacy scale,the social approval scale,the social distance scale,the willingness to cross-ethnic communication scale,and the prejudice scale are used to measure the influence of Tibetans' cross-national friendship on the inter-group attitudes of Han students,and the mediating role of social support and intimacy in cross-national friendship and representative inter-group attitude variables.It is found that cross-national friendship has a significant predictive effect on inter-group attitudes.Social support and intimacy play a partial mediation role between cross-national friendship and inter-group attitude through social support.In the second study,the Han middle school students(n=112)in the northwestern area were studied,using the cross-national friendship scale,the social support scale,the intimacy scale,the social approval scale,the social distance scale,the willingness to cross-ethnic communication scale,and the national stereotype scale are used to measure the influence of the Han nationality on the cross-national friendship ofTibetan students,and the mediating role of social support and intimacy in cross-national friendship and inter-group attitude.The results show that social support and intimacy play a full mediation role between cross-national friendship and inter-group attitude through social support.The results of the study prove that the cross-national friendship between Tibetan and Han students will have a significant direct positive impact on intimacy and social support.Intimacy will have a significant direct positive impact on social support,and social support will also have an inter-group attitude.There is a significant direct positive impact,and cross-national friendship can also have a significant indirect impact on inter-group attitudes through the mediation role of social support and the chain mediation of intimacy and social support.
