Online games can effectively integrate the media advantages of network communication and spread excellent cultural content.As a mass media,online games should not only improve the entertainment of the game,but also pay attention to the function of cultural communication.From the perspective of high-speed economic development,China's online game market has become increasingly prominent in economic development.Especially under the influence of modern network technology,online games have begun to become an important part of the Internet industry,and it has become an important growth of the economy point.As China's online games begin to mature,the growth rate has slowed down,but the market size will continue to grow steadily.It is predicted that the online game market in China will exceed 260 billion by 2019.The game market is constantly expanding.However,compared with the Chinese game industry,the US online game industry started earlier,with mature technology and high market share.This article selects the United States World of Warcraft as the research object,the paper is divided into five parts:First of all,the introduction part mainly expounds the research background,purpose,method,innovation and literature review of online games.The first chapter is about the possibility of online communication of cultural games.Combine online games with media function theory,analyze the value and advantages of online games as a mass media in communication culture,and highlight the function of online game culture communication.Analyze the typicality of the American online game World of Warcraft.The second chapter is the characteristics of the cultural communication content of the American online game World of Warcraft.Analyze and summarize the game content of World of Warcraft,and find out that World of Warcraft has the characteristics of diversification of content communication,scene of communication and diversification of communication channels in cultural communication.The third chapter is about the problems in the cultural content of the American online game World of Warcraft.Through the analysis of the game background,mission plot and character characters of World of Warcraft,we can find out the problems of inaccurate cultural content dissemination and unhealthy values in the process of cultural communication.The fourth chapter is the enlightenment of the spread of American online game culture to China.In view of the problems in the process of cultural communication of World of Warcraft,the game companies and the government proposed targeted countermeasures to provide effective experience and lessons for the online communication of Chinese online games.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.This article uses online games as a mass media,with the functions and advantages of cultural communication.Through the analysis of the cultural communication content of the American online game World of Warcraft,it is believed that the process of online game communication in culture has the advantages of the spread of the scene,the diversity of the content and the diversity of the communication channels.At the same time,online games also have many problems in the process of cultural content dissemination.Combine these problems with the content of online game culture in China,find out the targeted countermeasures,and accumulate experience and lessons for the cultural communication development of online games in China.
