Classification is a very important cognitive activity.It refers to the incorporation of things into the same category according to their characteristics.Classification is not only the content of primary school mathematics,but also an effective way to promote students' understanding.This paper takes the teaching of "tree planting" as the teaching content,and explores the role of classification activities in promoting the understanding of problems.Thirty-five third-grade pupils who had just learned tree planting were selected as subjects to investigate and intervene(Interviews include investigative interviews and interventional interviews)in the self-compiled Test Question on the Mastery of Tree Planting and the Use of Classification Methods.The results show that: 1.In the spontaneous state,most of the students pay attention to the difference of the subject matter in the classification of tree planting problems;2.By prompting and emphasizing the classification criteria,students can achieve the understanding of the problem structure.On the basis of the above research,the experimental scheme was formed.Two classes(69 students in total)were selected as subjects to conduct a comparative experiment.The results show that compared with the current teaching methods of textbooks,classified activities are more conducive to children's understanding of the problem.
