A Study On The Strata Identity Of Floating Population

After more than 40 years of reform,China has witnessed vigorous social and economic development,enhanced national strength and significantly improved living standards.With the rapid development of economy,the status of floating population is becoming more and more prominent.At the same time,the class consciousness of the floating population is aroused in the social change.Therefore,based on the theory of social stratification and social identity,this paper studies the stratum identity of floating population in the new era.Based on the 2015 CGSS data,multiple regression model was used to analyze the class identity of the floating population group and its influencing factors,and the following conclusions were finally drawn by combining theory with empirical research:First,the overall class identity of the floating population is at the lower and middle level of the society.Compared with the past,they general y believe that their own class has increased to a certain extent in the past decade,but a small number of them believe that their class has not changed or decreased in the past.They are so confident in their future that few think they will fall much further.Moreover,it is believed that their social class will be improved to a greater extent in ten years than in the past,and their overall class identity of the floating population will reach the upper and middle class level of the society.The overall class identity of the floating population is developing in a positive direction.Second,according to the internal status of class identity of floating population,the status of class identity of floating population is different from each other,and a certain class identity differentiation has begun to form.Among them,when the floating population is male,non-party member,non-public unit,low-income,uneducated or individual industrial and commercial households,the internal class identity evaluation has great differences.From the empirical analysis,we know that gender,unit nature,party membership and region have certain influence on the class identity of floating population.At the same time,class identity is a kind of subjective feeling,personal characteristics and subjective feelings sometimes play a decisive role,making occupation,income,education and floating population class identity is inconsistent.However,in addition to the influence of self-cognition,they are also influenced by social stereotypes or prejudices,such as gender discrimination,which makes the class identity of male floating population general y higher than that of female.Migrants are more vulnerable to urban exclusion or social integration because of their status as outsiders.The class identity of floating population of party members or public ownership units is lower than that of non-party members and non-public ownership units,which is completely contrary to the class identity of ordinary urban residents.Thirdly,on the basis of literature review and theoretical analysis,multiple regression analysis is made on the subjective and objective factors of floating population.Objective socio-economic factors such as income level,education level,occupation and housing status,as well as subjective self-feelings such as social equity and happiness have significant influence on class identity of floating population.The influence of housing property right on class identity level of floating population is different from previous research results.Affected by economic pressure,the floating population with housing property right has higher identification level than the floating population without housing property right.In terms of subjective self-perception,the sense of social justice and subjective wel-being have a positive impact on the class identification level of floating population.The stronger the sense of social justice and subjective wel-being is,the higher the class level of floating population's subjective identification will be.The floating population is a cornerstone of China's urban construction and development.The class identity of the floating population directly affects the stability and development of China's whole society.The rising class identity of the floating population in the past is an affirmation of China's economic development and progress.However,on the other hand,the identity of the past class of nearly one-third of the floating population remains unchanged,which also indicates that China's social structure has a certain degree of solidification and further improvement is possible.Therefore,from the perspective of the needs of social development and the demands of the floating population itself,the state should improve the relevant social security system,improve the basic public service system,deepen the adjustment mechanism of relevant social interests and strengthen relevant social governance for the floating population.We will establish a comprehensive,basic,multilevel and sustainable social security system.We will comprehensively reform the education system,the employment system,and the medical and health care systems,and vigorously promote equal access to public services.We will deepen reform of the income distribution system,establish a fair and reasonable income distribution order,protect the legitimate income of the floating population,increase the income of those on low incomes,and regulate excessively high incomes.We will continue to improve the household registration system,further improve and innovate the management services for the floating population,maintain good public security and order,and coordinate the difference in housing benefits between urban residents and the floating population.We will better protect the rights and interests of the floating population and improve their living standards.The sense of security given to the floating population increases the sense of fairness and happiness of the floating population.In order to improve the floating population class identity level,improve the floating population living and working enthusiasm.To a certain extent,the conflicts and contradictions between the floating population and the society will be al eviated,and the society will be more harmonious and stable.
