At present,the rapid development of big data and data science increasingly highlights the importance of data,and the thinking way of data-driven innovation is profoundly affecting all walks of life.In the industrial field,some enterprises represented by Internet companies need data science talents to improve their operation models,assist in management decisions and create new profit growth points.In the field of scientific research,many researchers are using the technical means of data science to carry out research and explore new discoveries.In the field of education,many universities at home and abroad are actively engaged in the specialty construction of data science and paved the way for training data science talents.In the field of public policy,many countries have attached great importance to the development of data science and introduced some policies to promote its development.In order to meet the social demand of data science talents,the United States has carried out the specialty construction of data science earlier and gained advanced experience.This paper takes the data science projects of American iSchools as research object to carry out the investigation,and provides reference for the domestic specialty construction of data science in recent years.This paper uses case research method,comparison analysis method,network survey method and other methods to analyze data science from the project establishment,project scale,training objectives,credit system,curriculum system,employment direction etc,and looks for commonness and characteristics of the data science projects which American iSchools has,summarizes the experience of advancement and portability,makes a comparative study on the construction situation and prominent problems of data science in Chinese colleges,and puts forward suggestions and inspirations for the improvement of these problems.
