The rural vitalization strategy put forward in the 19 th national congress of the communist party of China(CPC)has brought opportunities for the development of rural education.The small rural school is a relatively weak part in rural compulsory education in our country,it has undergone a complex process of close,integration,relayout,resumption.The reform of small rural school is the foundation of revitalizing rural education and its also an important part of realizing balanced development of urban and rural education.Australia and China have similar national conditions,the quality of education in economically developed eastern coastal areas is better than in rural and remote areas.Small rural school face with a series of difficulties,such as:lack of educational resources,shortage in public funds,poor students' academic performance,high teacher turnover problems.All of them hindered the urban and rural equality of educational opportunity.Now Australia's rural education development level among the world top,it also made active exploration and efforts in the development of rural small schools and it achieved some good results.This paper analyzes the development strategies of Australian small rural school and learn some useful lessons from it.This can provide some enlightenment and reference for the development of small rural school in China.This paper is mainly divided into five parts:Introduction: this part expounds the reasons and significance of this research,the research status at home and abroad,the research ideas and methods,as well as the innovation and shortcomings of this research.The first chapter mainly overview development of small rural school in Australia and divides its into two parts:the birth and slow development period;the reform and maturity period.Chapter two: author mainly analyzes the reason of Australia attaches great importance to the development of small rural school.First of all,Australia attaches great importance to the equalityof urban and rural education;Secondly,small rural school face many difficulties and problems,they need to be solved;Finally,the small rural school owns outstanding advantages and it has irreplaceable position in Australian rural education.Chapter three: author mainly analyzes and summarizes the strategies of developing small rural school in Australia.Whether it is the inclination and investment of educational resources and funds or funding for students and families of small rural schools and the deep investment of distance technology in small rural schools,these are all aimed at the small rural schools.Educators as an important part of small rural school,in order to improve the construction of teachers in small rural school,so Australia starts with three stages: pre-service,on-job and in-service education.Given the important role that educational leaders play in small rural school,Australia has also focused on developing good educational leaders and encouraging them to work in rural areas.Finally,it is to actively absorb social and natural resources to help small rural schools develop their characteristics and realize characteristic development.Chapter four: author reflects on the shortcomings of small rural school in China,points out Australian enlightenment to the reform and develop China's small rural school and provides reference for developing of smal lrural school in China.
