In the fight against COVID-19 epidemic,young people shouldered the important task and become the main force to safeguard the security of the country and the people.Youth leadership is vital to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,and young leaders will grow to be the mainstay of the future progress.However,the new generation of young people still have some problems such as lack of practical experience and comprehension of leadership.In order to solve the current problems,it is necessary to develop youth leadership.Previous researches on youth leadership focus on student group,and pay less attention to the youth in the workplace.Therefore,this research has certain practical and theoretical value.Based on the theory of motivation to lead and leadership qualities,this paper constructs a theoretical relationship model of core self-evaluations,motivation to lead,youth leadership and emotional intelligence.With 296 young leaders' questionnaires as sample,this paper uses SPSS and AMOS to verify the relationship between core selfevaluations and youth leadership,to explore the mediating role of leadership motivation,and to test the moderating effect of emotional intelligence between core self-evaluations and motivation to lead.The results show that the core self-evaluations has a significant positive effect on the leadership motivation and youth leadership.The overall motivation to lead,the dimensions of affective-identity and social-normative have significant positive impacts on youth leadership.Motivation to lead partly mediates the relationship between core self-evaluations and youth leadership.The use of emotional dimension of emotional intelligence can moderate the effect of core self-evaluations on leadership motivation,but the whole emotional intelligence and other dimensions have no moderating effect.Finally,combining with the research results,the paper puts forward appropriate and reasonable suggestions for management practice,and points out the development direction of the future research,in order to provide useful reference for the follow-up research.
