Function is one of the basic concepts for modern mathematics.It is the basis and critical points for senior high school mathematical course which occupies a central position.Thus,the learning of Function-related content has a very significant impact on the overall mathematical proficiency of senior high school students.Compared with Textbooks of Senior Mathematics for China(Edition A)(hereinafter refers to as“New Textbook”),which compiled and revised in accordance with the National Mathematics Curriculum Standard(2017),published by Peoples' Education Press and applied in autumn 2019,there are some changes in Experimental Textbooks of New Senior Mathematics for China(Edition A)(hereinafter refers to as “Old Textbook”),which published by People's Education Press,launched in autumn 2004 and have been used for 15 years.This research focuses on the changes in the Function-related content between“New Textbook” and “Old Textbook”.By adopting literature analysis,content analysis,quantitative analysis,comparative research and other research methods,after the comparison and analysis of the knowledge system,example & exercise system,and curriculum difficulty of the two different Textbooks,the research conclusions are as follows.From the perspective of the knowledge system,compared with the Old Textbook,the New Textbook has an amount of increase in the length of Function-related knowledge.Although the total number of knowledge points is almost the same as the Old Textbook,the New Textbook has been optimized and integrated,and the infiltration of mathematics culture is obviously more than that of the Old Textbook.From the perspective of the example & exercise system,both the New and Old Textbooks attach great importance to the role of example exercises in mathematics learning,among which calculation questions are the primary question type for the above two editions.Compared with the Old Textbook,the number of objective questions in the New Textbook increased,which shows a sense of hierarchy;thecomprehensive difficulty of example exercises increased and paid more attention to the training of students' computing ability.From the perspective of curriculum difficulty,the curriculum difficulty of Function-related content in the New textbook is higher than that in the Old Textbook.Based on the conclusions of the research,some suggestions and recommendations are put forward as follows: first of all,by considering the needs of mathematics instruction,taking advantages of the different kinds of textbooks flexibly,teachers should explore the instructional methods and assessments which combined with information technologies.Secondly,teachers should pay attention to the instructional process of teaching mathematics and the infiltration of the mathematics culture,make full use of the pedagogical values and enhance students' applying experience and cultivate their Key Competencies for mathematics.Thirdly,students should accumulate experience in applying Mathematics during daily life actively.Such as establishing Function model by abstracting concrete examples;understanding the concept of Function;realizing the general learning way of Function through Power Function;learning Logarithmic Function by comparing Exponential Function;Keeping a habit of observing though mathematical perspectives.
