| Mathematics textbooks play a crucial role in high school mathematics teaching because they directly reflects the concept of mathematics curriculum standards. The purpose of this study is to compare the differences between the "Probability and Statistics" section of the "Experimental Textbook for General High School" published in 2004 and the "Textbook for General High School" published in 2019 by the People’s Education Press, and to conduct an analysis and research based on the reform requirements of relevant curriculum standards. This paper adopts the methods of questionnaire survey, content comparison, teacher interview, and statistical analysis,to compare and analyze mainly from the aspects of textbook curriculum requirements, main structure, content selection, knowledge presentation, column settings, exercise configuration, and summary at the end of the chapter. At the same time,it integrates the teaching experience of using the probability and statistics section of the new and old textbooks of Senior High School Mathematics PEP edition, and carries out a comparative study on the optional compulsory content of probability and statistics in the new and old textbooks. With the help of questionnaires and interview results from front-line teachers, several practical conclusions are drawn. The new textbooks highlight the three main lines of function, geometry and algebra, and statistics and probability, with a thorough and clear knowledge structure. In the topic of probability and statistics, selective compulsory content and compulsory content are closely linked, which conforms to current cognitive level of students and achieves an effective transition.Combining mathematical modeling activities with mathematical inquiry activities, integrating mathematical culture into the curriculum content, and emphasizing the infiltration of ideas and methods into the classroom are helpful to expand students’ mathematical thinking and cultivating their scientific spirit. At the same time, the new textbooks pay more attention to the generation process of mathematical knowledge and the thinking process of students’ active thinking, and puts more emphasis on the experiential process of students’ exploration, research, and acquisition of mathematical knowledge. In addition, the new textbooks have better achieved the connection between curriculum standards and exam evaluation,as well as the connection between content selection and exam question types. Therefore,in practical teaching, teachers should carefully study the new curriculum standards, fully grasp the content of the textbooks, especially pay attention to and experience the profound meaning of changes in the textbooks, attach importance to the cultivation of mathematical core literacy, the integration of the history of mathematical culture and the integrated application of information technology, put emphasis on conceptual background and knowledge application, highlight the mathematical nature of relevant learning content, and then organize and carry out teaching activities. |
