In recent years,with the development of distance education and the deepening of poverty alleviation in education,a teaching model that relies on satellite transmission to share the courses of famous schools has begun to attract attention.This mode allows schools in remote areas to contact and follow courses of well-known schools.Thanks to this mode,these high schools in remote areas have made unprecedented progress.This teaching mode is named as “Live Broadcasting Video Distance Teaching”.The sending side is called the front-end school,and the receiving side is called the terminalend school.In the classroom,front-end teachers teach new courses,and teachers of the receiving side do not teach new courses directly.In this mode,the remote teachers are bound to face some role changes.Then what is the role of the them? How do their students,manager and even themselves view it?This study aims to explore the role of the teachers in the receiving side of live broadcasting video distance teaching.The study selects two classes in A school as a case,which located in the central part of China.After observing teachers daily work for one month,I draw up an outline of preliminary interviews based on related literature,and then conducted semi-structured interviews with teachers,students,and managers.According to the grounded theory,transcription and coding are performed after each interview.Besides,the outline of the interview is continuously adjusted until a new code no longer appears.After that,the interview content was further coded to reach the final conclusion,which based on logical induction,pedagogical theories and literature review.Combining coding results with the new taxonomy of educational objectives and pedagogical theories such as role of teacher and mediated learning experience,the study finds that the teachers in the receiving side take the core role as a learning guide with three major roles attached—a communicator,a class manager,and a learner.Respectively,they work as the premise,supporter and promotor of the core role.Although teachers have a clear understanding of their own roles,they still face some problems in the role-building progress.The most common ones are their passive position,increased burden,and a wider gap among students in the same class.Finally,the study compares the roles with those of senior high school teachers,highlighting the differences in communication,lesson preparation,regular reflection,and applications of learning,helping new teachers of receiving side better understand and adapt their roles.
