Since the beginning of the 21 st century, mental illness has ranked first in China's total disease burden, accounting for about 20% of the total burden of disease. The World Health Organization has proposed that psychological behavior problems will continue to increase worldwide and should be highly valued. Most people with mental disorders choose home treatment and are scattered in every corner of social life.As the number of mental patients increases year by year, the problem of social inclusion of patients has become a social problem that needs to be solved urgently. This paper studies the social inclusion status of mental patients in L City of Shanxi Province through fieldwork and questionnaire method. The study found that mental patients face serious problems of employment exclusion, low income level and low standard of living in the economic dimension. There are poor interpersonal relationships and poor marital status as well as related social security and support in terms of social dimension. There is also a lack of political integration of mental patients, whom face the problem of lack of civil rights and low political influence. The cultural integration of the mental patient group is in good condition, but this has led to the internalization of the prejudice of others into self-stigma and self-labeling,at the same time, mentally ill people have trouble following social norms. There are three reasons for the difficulty of social integration of mental patients: First, the individual reasons.Due to long-term medication, mental patients suffer from impaired physical function and low level of health, which makes mental patients participate in social labor difficulties. It is also difficult to maintain an active and healthy psychological state in interpersonal communication, thereby reducing the quality of life of patient groups. At the same time, the group of people with mental disorders have an emotional tendency to stay away from social life, which makes it more difficult for mental patients to integrate into society.Second, the media reasons.Family and medical institutions are bridges between mental patients and social life. However, they also play a negative role in the process of socialization process of mental patients.Family members' care and supervision of mental patients is not enough in places, causing illnesses relapsed, which in turn affects all aspects of social inclusion of patients such as economy and politics;and lack of awareness of disease as well as social integration, and has not cultivated patients' social interactions skills that cause the degradation of the latter's social function. The medical institution's isolation and "pick" type of medical concepts and treatments also hinder the social integration of hospitalized mental patients. The shortage of professional institutions and personnel and the "occupation" of medical resources make it difficult for a large number of mental patients to obtain quality medical treatment, which will seriously affect their social life.Third, the social popular reason. The social public's fear of mental patients, strong rejection of compulsory medical mental patients, and the emotional tendency to isolate mental patients are social factors that hinder the social inclusion of mental patients. In view of the above status quo and reasons,we can promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen mental health education, comprehensively improve mental health services, develop a psychiatric multi-medical pattern, strengthen psychiatric human resources construction, improve the security system, and actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation and other aspects of policy planning to promote the social inclusion of mental patients.
