| Preschool family education has a long-term impact on children's future human capital development.High-level family education can nourish and promote the development of children's non-cognitive abilities.Otherwise,it will hinder children's future development.Parents are the first and most important teacher in a child's life.However,during the period of social transformation,because of increased social mobility,fierce competition in the labor market,and increased work intensity of parents of dual-worker families,more and more families choose to rear their children by grandparents instead of parents.And intergenerational rearing has increasingly become an important part of family education in preschool.Preschool family rearing is an important environmental factor in family education.In the interaction between the caregiver and the child,caregiver's own human capital,thinking,and behavioral characteristics will subtly affect the development of the child.At the same time,as a kind of important family capital,the choice and investment of family rearing may affect the distribution of family capital and the development of children's non-cognitive ability.In order to optimize the preschool family education,it is necessary to conduct an empirical study on the effect of preschool intergenerational rearing on adolescents'non-cognitive ability.At the same time,this study will analyze which families will choose intergenera-tional rearing and propose strategies to improve the quality of family education.Based on the micro-data from the China Education Panel Survey(CEPS),this study investigates which factors effect the family's decision of intergenerational rearing and the effect of intergenerational rearing on the development of adolescent's non-cognitive abilities in five aspects:willpower,self-efficacy,negative emotionality,social skills and collective integration.The analysis of logit regression models found that gender,whether the only child,health status before primary school,weight at birth,parents' education level,and family economic status before primary school all had significant effects on intergenerational rearing.OLS estimation method was used to investigate the effect of intergenerational rearing on the non-cognitive ability of adolescents.The study found tha-t:intergenerational rearing in preschool has a significant negative impact on adolescent-s' willpower,self-efficacy,negative emotions,social ability,and collective integration;in addition to willpower and social skills,adolescents raised by grandparents had significantly worse non-cognitive abilities than those raised by parents;the effect of intergenerational rearing on the non-cognitive ability of rural adolescents was higher than that of urban adolescents.Compared with boys,preschool intergenerational rearing effects girls more significant in the later period.At the same time,using the PSM method to test the robustness of the effects of intergenerational rearing,the results show that the OLS estimation results have a certain degree of robustness in that,the intergenerational rearing in the preschool period has a significant negative impact on adolescents'willpower,self-efficacy,negative emotions,social ability,and collective integration;the result of changing the missing value processing mode is also robust.In this regard,under the background that intergenerational rearing may become an important part of family education in China now and in the future,it is necessary to adopt legislation to strengthen the restraint and cooperation of various subjects of family education;establish a child-family rearing security system in preschool;stengthen the family educational guidance services;family members need to develop a correct awareness of parenting. |
