Improving the happiness of all residents is the fundamental purpose of China 's socialist construction.Since the reform and opening up,along with economic development,on the one hand, the happiness of rural elderly in China has not been correspondingly improved. On the other hand, the rural income gap in China, especially The income gap of the elderly in rural areas is constantly expanding.Whether there is some effect relationship between the two, this paper attempts to conduct systematic analysis. In this paper,we first choose to cut in from the perspective of happiness economics, using income distribution, social comparison and relative deprivation and other related theories to theoretically analyze the mechanism of the rural elderly income gap on their subjective well-being;then,use China Health and Pension Tracking Survey 2015 The annual sample data, taking rural elderly people over 60 years old as the main research object, based on theoretical analysis, constructs an econometric model to study its influence on the subjective well-being of rural elderly people from the individual and overall effects of income gap,and The research results are tested for robustness in different ways;finally, the conclusions of theoretical and empirical analysis are summarized. This paper draws the following conclusions through analysis:(1)In terms of individual effects, the relative deprivation index has a significant negative impact on the subjective well-being of the elderly, that is,the higher the individual income relative to the village income, the weaker the relative deprivation and the stronger the subjective well-being;The lower the individual income relative to the village income, the weaker the relative deprivation and the stronger the subjective well-being;(2)In terms of the overall effect, the Gini coefficient, the overall benefit of the regional income gap,has a significant negative impact on the elderly 's subjective well-being,And accompanied by a large marginal effect, indicating that the increase in the overall income gap is not conducive to the improvement of overall social wellbeing;(3)Individual age, spouse and personal absolute income all have a significant positive effect on the subjective well-being of the elderly Among them, junior high school education, poor physical health, and infrequent social interaction have a significant negative impact on the subjective well-being of the elderly, and the physical health status and marital spouse status have the greatest marginal effect on happiness.According to the research conclusions of this article, the following policy recommendations are proposed:(1)deepen the reform of the income distribution system, increase the income level of lowincome seniors, and improve the economic conditions of rural seniors;(2)Establish a dynamic consultation and adjustment mechanism for old-age insurance, and moderately expand the scope of insurance coverage;(3)Pay attention to the mental health of the rural elderly, and guide the rural elderly to actively participate in social activities.
