Power And Daily Life In Space Production

With the deepening of reform and opening up and economic system reform,China's urbanization process has entered a completely new stage.The city has become a place where more and more people live,and the urban space territory is constantly expanding.From this,the question arises:before the formation of modern urban space,what different stages of development have they gone through,and what are the different spatial forms at different stages?What is the dominant force in the change of spatial form?What effect does the change of spatial form have on people's daily life?The author chooses the Wuhan International Expo Center as a case,through participatory observation and case interview methods,to carry out research on issues related to modern urban space production.This research is based on Lefebvre's theory of space production and analyzes the different stages of the spatial change of Wuhan International Expo Center under the analysis framework of "power-daily life".According to the historical evolution,today's National Expo Center can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty Parrot Island period.Ancient Parrot Cay was originally a naturally-occluded sandbar center on the Yangtze River.It gradually became social in the space practice of military forces and intellectuals and realized the transformation from natural space to social space;Ancient Parrot Cay disappeared with the change of geography In the middle of the Yangtze River.Then the silted out sandbar gradually evolved into a prosperous Parrot Island bamboo and wood market after a game of power from possession to domination.At the same time,it also shaped the same-township association with bamboo and wood transportation as the core.The two-stage research on the Ancient Parrot Cay and Parrot Island Bamboo and Wood Markets shows that although natural space will gradually disappear under the influence of geographical activities and human practical activities,it still exists as an important background factor for understanding space production;After the founding of new China,under the guidance of the Socialist industrialization,the Guobo area has changed from a bamboo and wood commercial space focusing on life and entertainment to an industrial space focusing on production.After entering the new century,while exploring the separation of government and enterprise and economic system reform,the local governments have more autonomy to explore spatial forms.The Guobo area has formed a modern urban space featuring "Convention and Exhibition" under the orientation of establishing"Convention and Exhibition Center City" in Wuhan.The function of urban space has also changed from the industrial production to consumption.Different groups in the space can realize the identification of space through consumption.Through research on space production in different stages of Guobo area,it is found that any society will produce its own space,and space is the product of the production methods and social relations of the society in which it is located.In the process of space production,power plays a decisive role in the change of space form,and the change of space form will affect people's daily life.Finally,on the basis of summarizing and reflecting on this research,it is also pointed out that space is a concept with rich social meaning.In addition to focusing on how space is produced socially,it also needs to pay attention to space justice,cultural protection and space Issues such as identity.
