Chinese textbooks of primary school are important to students.Since September 2017,China has begun to use compulsory education textbooks(hereinafter referred to as "Ministry Edition")which were released by the Ministry of Education.In September 2019,all regions in China used the "Ministry Edition" textbooks.Because this version of textbooks has been in use for a short time,there is currently few research on the textbooks.At the same time,the "Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standard(2011)Edition" clearly puts forward the overall goal of oral communication: "have the basic ability of daily oral communication;learn how to listen,express and communicate;initially know how to use language for polite social interaction and interpersonal communication." Therefore it is necessary to analyse,investigate the current situation of oral communication taught in lower grades of primary school for optimized strategies and the improvement of students' oral communication ability.This article mainly adopts the literature method,text analysis method,investigation method and classroom observation method.With the research background of Changsha F Elementary School,the content of the textbooks edited by the Ministry and the current situation of oral communication taught in Changsha F Elementary School are analyzed todig out causes behind,thus improving the effect of oral communicative teaching.The survey targeted five major issues listed as follow.Currently the oral communication teaching in F Elementary School in Changsha is misunderstood and marginalized;the oral communication topics is limited as listed in teaching materials;teachers are overly dependent on Instructional books;the teaching organization forms are not multiple enough;the evaluation standards of oral communication teaching are unclear.The causes for these problems are the ill-conceived concept of exam-oriented education,the unfamiliarity to the textbooks,the evaluation system which is difficult to upgrade and lacks effective supervision,the professionalism of teachers needed to be improved,the lack of spirit of innovation and constraints of students' own oral communication skills and psychological factors.Therefore,according to the problems and causes mentioned above,the author puts forward some suggestions from the perspective of teaching and teaching materials.Specifically,from the perspective of teaching oral communication,we need to combine multiple teaching methods to strengthen the interest of the whole class,and to flexibly use teaching materials for choose topics based on the students' actual situation and to strengthen teachers' theoretical study and improve their professionalism and to help students overcome obstacles and improvespeaking ability and to establish a complete evaluation system.With regard to compilation of oral communication in the ministry edition,we must highlight the status of oral communication and increase the number of articles in the text appropriately,and make the illustration design more picture-oriented and functional and make the learning tips more diverse and inspiring.
