Teachers are the foundation of education.Music teachers are the backbone to promote the development of music education.In the ranks of music teachers in rural schools,non-professional music teachers who “teach what they don't learn” are ubiquitous.Paying attention to and improving their professional happiness has a profound positive impact on improving the quality of music education in rural schools.This study adopts the narrative research method to select a non-professional music teacher in rural areas,Mr.Xiao,as a case,through field observation,semi-open interview,listening to the story and sorting out the analysis data,on the basis of a large number of narration of Mr.Xiao's professional life,in-depth analysis of Mr.Xiao's professional happiness.Through the case study of teacher Xiao's professional happiness,this paper holds that the main sources of professional happiness of non-professional music teachers in rural areas are the love for music education,the function of music ontology,professional achievement,professional music growth and selfless dedication.The main reasons for the loss of professional happiness of non-professional music teachers in rural areas are: limited teaching equipment,insufficient humanistic care,limited professional development of teachers,job burnout and lack of happiness ability.Thus,it further puts forward Suggestions to improve the vocational happiness of rural non-professional music teachers: rural schools can improve the vocational happiness of rural non-professional music teachers by improving teaching equipment,providing help for professional growth and enhancing humanistic care;Teachers can improve their own professional happiness from three aspects: playing music ontology function,overcoming job burnout and cultivating happiness ability.
