A Study Of Rural Education Experiment Of Yenching University Education Department(1937-1941)

In the 1920 s and 1930 s,China faced the problem of rural reconstruction,and the slogan of “save the country through education” was spread at that time.In order to “save” the countryside and “save” China,many universities and social organizations all over the country started to go to the countryside spontaneously,setting up rural education experimental areas and launching huge rural education practice activities,including the Sanqi and Rancun education experimental areas independently founded by Yenching University education department.On February 5th,2018,Chinese government promulgated and implemented the “Strategic Plan for Rural revitalization”,which mentioned that the development of countryside decided the prosperity and the decline of the country.In order to comprehensively defeat the well-off society and build a modern country,the prime task is to solve the rural problems and achieve countryside revitalization.Although the current strategic plan for rural revitalization and the rural education movement was launched in different eras,the ultimate goal pursued is to revitalize the countryside and improve people's livelihood.Hence,Based on the relevant historical data,this paper uses historical literature methods and case study methods to systematically analyze the rural education experiment of Yenching University education department.It hopes that under the new historical conditions and learning from history,the contemporary universities will learn from the experience and lessons of Yenching University education department in rural education experimental work.And the experience give some enlightenment to contemporary universities participating in rural revitalization work.First of all,this study discusses the historical backgrounds,educational situation,origin of thoughts and talents and the reasons of carrying out rural education experiment of Yenching University education department.Secondly,this thesis discusses the establishment,organizational structure,and management staff of the rural education experimental area of Yenching University Education Department.In the aspect of establishment,the purpose,the entry point,the reasons and the process of setting up the experimental area are explained.In terms of organizational framework,Yenching University education department follows the theoretical guidance of "promoting rural construction with school centered" and takes Chengfu and RanCun primary schools as the construction centers to construct four working systems of school,society,livelihood and health education.In terms of management personnel allocation,Yenching University education department has certain pertinence,it mainly focuses on rural education interns,and emphasizes on the training of interns and the cultivation of leadership.Thirdly,it briefly discusses the rural education experimental work of Yenching University education department from four aspects: school,society,livelihood and health education.Fourthly,based on the analysis of the remarkable characteristics and experience of the rural education experiment work of Yenching University education department,briefly reviews the historical value and promotion obstacles of the rural education experimental area of Yenching University education department,and puts forward its enlightenment to the contemporary college and university to participate in the rural revitalization work: Both rural service and urban service should be paid equal attention to,and the social service function of colleges and universities should be brought into full play;Attach importance to the cultivation of different types of rural talents and promote balanced development of rural areas;Implementing "targeted poverty alleviation" in rural areas through scientific research and technological innovation;Adhere to the overall construction of rural areas and the participation of all members to help the overall revitalization of rural areas.
