With the rapid development of modern education, information technology has become an indispensable part of the field of education and an important symbol of education modernization.High school geography subject has the characteristics of comprehensive and regional, and some knowledge is abstract and difficult to learn. The application of information technology in geography teaching has become the trend of The Times. On the basis of reading a large number of relevant literatures, this paper clarified the research topic and summarized the research background, research significance and domestic and foreign research status of the application of augmented reality technology in senior high school geography teaching.Since the early domestic researches were mainly focused on universities and colleges, ignoring the physical and mental development characteristics of middle school students, hardware equipment in middle schools, curriculum standards and textbook contents, the research conclusions were difficult to be popularized in middle schools.Based on high school geography teaching practice, according to the theory of constructivism, the situational learning theory and audio-visual teaching theory as a theoretical support for the design and implementation of the scheme,to augmented reality technology is applied to the teaching of high school geography curriculum practice. The main research work is as follows:(1)Firstly,a questionnaire survey was conducted among some students of No.6 middle school of Kuitun city, and interviews were conducted with some teachers to collect basic data such as geography learning of high school students and the application status of augmented reality technology in high school geography teaching.Through the analysis of the main performance is:(1)The teacher's teaching form is single, the student are not interested in geography.Among the teaching methods commonly used by teachers, multimedia courseware and blackboard drawing account for 91%,and 52% of students are not interested in geography.(2)The information technology used by teachers is relatively lacking.Although teachers can often use multimedia and information technology to assist geography teaching, but 52% of students chose the multimedia courseware is the most common way of teaching teachers.(3)The establishment of space has become the difficulty of geography teaching and learning.60% of the students find it difficult to learn geography.Among the most difficult types of knowledge in geography learning,38% choose spatial imagination knowledge.(4)The application of augmented reality technology is very few,but teachers and students have a strong desire to apply.94% of the students chose that the teacher had never used augmented reality technology in the geography class, but 78% of the students supported the teacher to use augmented reality technology in the geography class. The surveyed teachers were willing to try to use augmented reality technology to assist the geography teaching.(2)According to the present situation and problems of geography teaching in high schools in Kuitun city reflected by the survey results, case design is made for the teaching contents of the first two chapters of compulsory geography course 1 in senior high school.(3)Quasi-experimental research method is adopted, the experimental class uses augmented reality technology to assist geography teaching, and the control class adopts conventional teaching method, carry out teaching experiments with the control variables as consistent as possible. Before the start of the experiment through the SPSS analysis of experimental classes and that in comparative classes average score is 56.82 points and 57.38 points respectively, with a difference of 0.56 points. It can be seen from the t-test data of the independent sample that Sig(double-tail)=0.842>0.05,indicating that there was no significant difference in the pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class within the 95% confidence interval.(4)After the experiment, through the SPSS analysis of experimental classes and that in comparative classes average score is 63.80 points and 58.56 points respectively, with a difference of 5.24 points. In the independent sample t test data,it can be seen that Sig(double-tail)=0.026<0.05,indicating that there is a significant difference in the pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class within the 95% confidence interval, and the results of the experimental class are significantly higher than those of the control class. At the same time, the students of the experimental class were surveyed again by questionnaires, and the teachers who participated in the experiment were interviewed to understand the influence of augmented reality teaching method on students' learning interest, learning effect and other subjective factors.(1)The application of augmented reality technology in geography teaching can improve students' interest in geography learning.89% of students expressed interest in teachers using augmented reality in local classrooms, and 70% said they were more interested in learning geography.(2)The application of augmented reality technology in geography teaching can break through the difficulties in geography teaching.91% of the students believe that augmented reality technology is helpful to improve spatial imagination,86% believe that augmented reality technology is helpful to understand abstract regional knowledge, and 89% think that augmented reality technology is helpful to overcome knowledge of geographic difficulties.(3)The application of augmented reality technology in geography teaching can improve students' geography scores.98% of the students believe that augmented reality technology is helpful to improve their geography scores, but there are also some problems in the application of augmented reality technology in the classroom, which need to be overcome by teachers and students. The innovation of this paper lies in the design of teaching cases according to the current situation of geography teaching in high schools in Kuitun city.Combining teaching theory with teaching practice, this paper analyzes the effect of augmented reality technology in teaching from three aspects: geography test score, student questionnaire and teacher interview, and also points out the factors restricting the wide application of augmented reality technology, which provides real data and reference for front-line geography teachers to use augmented reality technology to assist teaching. However, due to the small research scope and limited research duration, the research conclusion of this paper may have certain limitations and one-sidetedness,which can only provide reference for front-line teachers engaged in geography teaching. It is believed that with the economic development and the advancement of educational information modernization, the application of augmented reality technology in high school geography teaching will be more and more extensive and mature.
