This study explores the characteristics of middle school students' cyberbullying and its relationship with psychological maltreatment, negative cognitive emotion regulation strategy and dark triad through a half-longitudinal.By means of cluster sampling, the grade one students from two middle schools in a district of Beijing were selected for the test.Pre-test(T1)was conducted in November 2018 with a sixmonth interval, and post-test(T2)was conducted in May 2019.A total of 571 valid questionnaires were collected. The results showed that:(1)there were gender differences in negative cognitive emotion regulation strategy, dark triad and cyberbullying and differences in family types in psychological maltreatment, dark triad and cyberbullying;(2)the results of cross-lag analysis showed that the negative cognitive emotion regulation strategy could predict Machiavellianism and psychopathy;(3)negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies and psychopathy played a chain mediating role in the relationship between psychological maltreatment and cyberbullying;(4)latent transition analysis results showed that according to the frequency of cyber bullying can be divided into "high frequency" and "low frequency".A transition exists between the two types.Blaming others, refocusing on planning and putting into perspective in the cognitive emotion regulation strategy, are the impact factors to predict the transition of middle school students' cyberbullying behavior. The results of the study implied that as the first place for children's socialization, parents should pay attention to the negative effects of psychological maltreatment, correct their attitude toward education, give children enough respect and autonomy. Moreover, middle school students who respond to maltreatment by developing antisocial behavior patterns were more likely to engage in cyberbullying. When the family environment and individual genetic quality are relatively difficult to change, the importance of cognitive emotional regulation for the prevention of cyberbullying is reflected. For teenagers, cyberbullying behavior can be better solved by reconstructing their cognition and coping styles of negative stressful events through guidance and education.
