Interest is the best teacher,and interest is an important dimension of primary school students' core accomplishment.Therefore,interest cultivation has become the basic curriculum goal of the curriculum standard of compulsory education.However,in the new era,the contradiction between the growing need for high-quality education by parents and the unbalanced and inadequate development of educational quality is particularly prominent,resulting in the phenomenon of "quick success and instant benefits".Parents and schools pay unusual attention to the cultivation of interest,especially in mathematics.Under the current situation,it is very necessary to study primary school students' interest in mathematics learning.In this paper,a detailed and in-depth study is carried out around the primary school students' interest in mathematics learning.416 students from grade 4 to grade 6in two public schools in different regions of Hangzhou city are investigated with a cluster sampling method,supplemented by semi-structured interviews with 8 first-line mathematics teachers and 15 students who participate in the questionnaire survey and have extracurricular learning experience.The study found that the overall level of primary school students' interest in mathematics learning is not high,and about half of the students do not rank mathematics in the top three of the eight courses they often participate in when sorting according to their favorite degree;In addition,there are three problems in the interest of pupil's in-class mathematics learning: monotonous teaching content,single teaching method and rigescent mathematics assignment.There are three problems in the after-class learning : students' passive participation in after-class mathematics learning,inconformity of after-class mathematics learning with students' needs and neglect of the interest development of mathematics after-class learning.Based on present situation and problems,this study puts forward the improvement strategies of cultivating primary school students' interest in mathematics learning,which are as follows:(1)appropriately increase the content of mathematics development and strengthen students' interest in mathematics;(2)Improve mathematics teaching methods and arouse students' interest in learning andparticipation;(3)Improve the assignment of mathematics and enhance students' interest in learning success;(4)Change ideas,position reasonably,and let students participate in extracurricular study moderately;(5)Improve the system,ensure and strengthen the purpose of protecting students' interests;(6)Gather together and teach students in accordance with their aptitude,so as to ignite the source of students' interest.However,the study of primary school students' interest in mathematics learning is a research field worthy of deep excavation,which is only a superficial exploration and attempt.Due to the influence of the research ability and the complexity of the research problem itself,many problems still need follow-up exploration and efforts.
