More and more calls have been raised to improve the level of science education,and all countries in the world have stepped up the construction of scientific teaching staff in order to train outstanding scientific and technological personnel and citizens with good scientific literacy in the new round of technological revolution.The new curriculum standard highlights the contradiction between the supply and demand of science teachers in primary schools.The tendency of teachers ' non-specialization triggers thinking.The main contents of professional development of science teachers in primary schools include teachers' professional knowledge,professionalism and professional affection.The professional development of primary school science teachers depends on the pre-service and post-service teacher education,teacher cooperation and academic groups to work together.School administrators and governments should also,to the extent possible,provide assistance for the professional development of science teachers.Taking Changsha as an example,this paper investigates the professional development of primary school science teachers from five aspects of teacher's knowledge structure,professional ability,professional development consciousness,ways of professional development and support incentive policy through questionnaire survey and interview method.After analysis,problems found in the professional development of primary school science teachers are as follow.Firstly,the phenomenon of non-specialization is serious,and the professional ability of teachers is weak;Secondly,the status of teachers is not high,professional development motivation still needs to be enhanced;thirdly,the path of professional development is limited and training is not targeted;lastly,the management and evaluation system needs to be improved.Aiming at the existing problems,this paper puts forward the countermeasures for the development of primary school science teachers under the background of the new curriculum standard.First of all,to improve the status of science teachers in primary schools and enhance their internal drive of the professional development.Professional standards for science teachers in primary schools should be set;firm beliefs should be established;their professional level should be upgraded.Secondly,we should form a system and environment conducive to the professional development of primary school science teachers.The teacher management system should be improved;more support should be given by primary schools.Finally,we should broaden the way of professional development of science teachers in primary schools;vigorously develop science normal education in primary schools;provide targeted and high-quality training for primary school science teachers;and give full play to the role of multiple groups in the professional development of science teachers in primary schools.
