In recent several decades, due to the combined influences of economical improvement and environmental change, the types of land use and the distribution of different nations have changed correspondingly. The resource and environmental problems caused by those changes are taken seriously by more and more people, and becoming one of the hot spots of academic world.Among all the factors that affect land-use,demographic distribution is the factor we can not neglect, especially in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which is a multinational region. Therefore,to explore the relationship between population density of different national groups and land use change of different regions can provide reference for us to make rational use of land resources, further protect the environment, promote economic progress and achieve sustainable development. At the same time, this paper is also an important part of land-use change research. In this research,Gini Index, migration of the population gravity center, population density growth rate, outcome of spatial autocorrelation are used to describe the spatial and temporal changes of population density in different regions and nations between 2000 and 2010.Using the function of ArcGIS spatial analysis, this research analyzes the change characteristics of different regions and land usetypes from 2000 to 2010.On this basis,it further studies the relationship between population density and land use change through correlation analysis. The results show that:(1)From 2000 to 2010,the population density of Han nationality played a leading role in land use change in semi agricultural and semi pastoral areas, while the population density of Mongolian nationality played a leading role in land use change in pastoral areas;(2)From 2000 to 2010,the population density and residential land had a positive correlation, and the degree of interaction was large, and the rest of land use types and population density basically had negative correlations, and the degree of interactions were small;(3)Land use change rate from2000 to 2010: pastoral Area > whole area > semi agricultural and semi pastoral area;(4)Population density center moving speed from 2000 to 2010: Han nationality >total population > Mongolian nationality;(5)Population density distribution in pastoral area shows imbalance and homogeneity;(6)In the whole region, the distribution of the population density of the Han nationality and the total population is unbalanced in the north-south direction, and the population density of the Mongolian nationality is unbalanced in the east-west and north-south direction, but has the trend of directional equilibrium distribution;(7)Urban expansion and reduction of water body and grassland are serious problems;(8)From 2000 to 2010,the increase of residential land accounted for the most in the whole area, which is more than that in pastoral areas and semi agricultural and semi pastoral areas, indicating that the increase of residential land is mainly concentrated in the old inner areas.
