As a major information carrier,English has become an important part of national civil education all around the world.For young Chinese citizens,the acquisition of English can help them better know about the changing world while completing basic courses at school.It helps them develop awareness and ability of cross-cultural communication,multiple thought and enhances their international humanistic quality.While learning the most advanced culture from other countries,they can also spread traditional Chinese culture.With the proposal of One Belt One Road,China is now opening up in an all-round way and actively engaged in the globalization process.Therefore,English has become a basic and necessary tool for young Chinese citizens to participate in future social competition.Besides,the learning subjects are becoming younger and younger.In the past,children began learning English in primary school,but now they start from kindergarten or some other training institutes.For example,in some large and medium-sized cities,Bilingual kindergartens and international kindergartens are commonly seen with English as an educational feature.In addition,as parents are paying greater attention to children's education with more investment,many English training institutes come into being to meet social needs,such as Kid's Box,Junior New Concept English,More English and Phonics teaching.However,it is neither practical nor scientific to teach young children to memorize English since it goes against with their learning characteristics and phonetic development.With long-term exploration and practice,I find phonics is a good English-learning method suitable for young kids' development,which integrates spelling,writing and reading as a good carrier for phonics teaching.In the paper,taking Children's Palace in Yinzhou District,Ningbo city as an example,I have investigated 20 students from the primary class of Phonics between 5 and 6 years old with action research method to learn about the effect of phonics on children's phonological awareness as well as the concrete implementation of phonetics in practical teaching for children between 5 and 6 years old.Through action research for three times,I have conducted some conclusions with planning,evaluation,implementation and reflection.That is,phonics is good for cultivating children's phonological awareness and improving their spelling ability.In the last chapter,I have proposed some suggestions for concrete implementation,which is of certain reference value for practical English teaching for young children.
