Since the 1960s,with the in-depth development of information and communication technology,digital media technology and internet technologies,the current human society has entered the information age.The mode of social production and production relations has changed.Digital labour based on internet technology has become an indispensable form of labour and a driving force for economic globalization in contemporary society.Digital labour theory is emerged and developed under the specific background of the continuous development of information and communication technology,the new stage of the development of information capitalism,and the return of Marxist theory in the Western academic circles.It is the product of continuous understanding and exploration of economy,politics and culture of capitalist society.Marx's Labour theory of value,Audience commodity theory,and Immaterial labour theory provide the source of thought.Digital labour is a kind of labour tool or production field based on internet platform,information technology and computer.Labour products are occupied by internet capital,covering all forms of labour involved in manual and mental in the production and use of digital media.It can be summarized as three types of professional labour on internet,free labour on internet platform and on-line and off-line labour on digital labour platform.The digital labour process is the process of commercialization of digital labour,digital labour produces double use value,and production of surplus value.In this process,users are alienated,digital labour is fourfold alienation based on human beings,which reveals implicit exploitation of digital workers by internet capital.Although the study of digital labour theory has important theoretical significance for us to understand the mystery of the development of the information age,to innovate Marx's labour theory of value,and to find a way out of digital capital control.However,there are still many shortcomings,including the lack of clear understanding of the concept and scope of digital labour,the lack of comprehensive interpretation of the production of digital labor surplus value,the lack of rich challenges and countermeasures brought about by digital labour.We need to explore further.
