With the gradual advancement of the nationwide fitness activities and the strategy of strengthening the country through sports,the development of sports events has received much attention.Enriching the content of sports culture has become an inevitable choice for accelerating the construction of spiritual civilization.As a large city in central China,Wuhan has multiple development advantages and limitations of sports events.Emerging sports,American football,is already a brand-new growth point for the sports industry,with its unique sports characteristics and cultural connotations taking root in Wuhan.New sports elements can activate the sports market and expand the scope of cultural exchanges.However,the differences in cultural communication due to regional changes cannot be avoided,and there are certain difficulties in further promotion.Exploring the development of Wuhan American rugby events can gather cultural power for striving to build a first-tier city with international dialogue,and has certain reference significance and reference value for the development of the sports industry in China's large cities.However,there are few studies in academia,and there are problems in the communication process,which hinders the development of this event.Therefore,from the perspective of field theory and media geography,this article uses the literature method,comparative analysis method,and expert interview method to sort out the cultural connotation and development significance of American football games.The problems and causes of the communication process,and then found the bottleneck of the Wuhan American rugby match: low public acceptance;insufficient media publicity;high cost of supporting facilities;monotonous training content in universities Combined with the concept of locality in media geography,a comparative analysis is made from the two aspects of city and event content.Finally,give five suggestions for communication bottlenecks:integrate local culture and break the inherent communication pattern;collaborate with local media to enrich event communication content;enrich event formats and enhance event participation;target local audiences and cultivate professional talents;link local brands to seek Business win-win.In order to bring reference and reference to the development of American football games.
