With the development of the contact between China and France,the cultural,scientific and educational exchanges between the two countries are more frequent and closer which has witnessed more and more Chinese students studying in France.However,China and France have a different cultural background and cultural environment.For those Chinese students studying in a foreign country,they are facing challenges to overcome cultural gaps and better integrate themselves into French society.This research focuses on the cross-cultural adaptation of Chinese students studying in France in the domain of interpersonal communication,study and daily life,and applicate the relevant theories to explore their performance and difficulties in these three aspects through the method of questionnaires and interviews.Firstly,interpersonal adaptation is impacted by the length of their stay in France,the language level and the source of living expenses among different groups of Chinese students.Secondly,the academic adaptation is influenced by their gender,age,school type,educational level,length of stay in France,range of expenses,source of living expenses language level and living adaptation.Finally,the length of staying in France,the source of living expenses,the scope of expenses and their interpersonal relation are essential factors for their living adaptation level.What's more,through the supplementary interview,it can be seen that students have different difficulties and coping behaviors during their cross-cultural adaptation due to individual differences.However,they are still in line with the common characteristics in the questionnaire survey.This study summarized the objective factors affecting the cross-cultural adaptation of Chinese students studying in France,mainly reflected in the aspects of the length of stay,the language level,the economic expenditure and income.Meanwhile,Suggestions are put forward in the end for Chinese students to better adapt themselves to the study life in France and gain good academic performance.
