As an everlasting driving force for a country's long-term development,the mental and physical health condition of children play an important role in the future development of a country.Children will experience a critical time at the first 5-6years as their organs and physical functions are growing rapidly during that time.There are several reasons may result in early childhood physical retardation.To begin with children at the age of 5-6 are too young to have enough self-control and resistance toward external adverse factors.They also lack access to typical training which can improve their physical qualities both inside and outside school.If not solved physical retardation will have negative effect on children's future development.In this paper children at the age of 5-6 with physical retardation are divided into two groups.Children in the experiment group take PE classes using sports game intervention as the main teaching method.While the other group of children take usual PE classes.This is an 18 weeks experiment during which relevant research methods such as documentary analysis,interview and experimentation are adopted.All 5-6 yeas old children are divided into different groups according to age classification in The Fourth Edition of National Physical Fitness Evaluation Standard(Children's Section).In 18 weeks of experimental time children in the experiment group receive 3 times of sports game intervention per week and each last for 30 minites.The other group of children have exactly the same arrangement with the experiment group except for taking usual PE classes according to original teaching plans of the school.All children's physical qualities and body shape would betested and evaluated afterwards,with certain test index and measurements that are listed in The Fourth Edition of National Physical Fitness Evaluation Standard(Children's Section).After 18 weeks of strict experimental teaching following conclusions can be drawn:After sports game intervention the height and weight index of these 5-6 years old children haven't change much both before and after the experiment.(p>0.05)It shows the sports game has no obvious influence on children's height and weight which may due to the short experiment period.However compares to the other group,children in the experiment group get higher scores in 10-meter shuttle run,continuous jumping,and balance beam walking.Improvements varies significantly by items(p<0.05).It shows sports game can significantly improve children's agility,speed,coordination and balance.Increasement of these types of physical qualities may differ in terms of gender.Moreover compares to the other group,children in the experiment group get higher scores in standing long jump,tennis throw far,and sitting forward bend.Improvements varies significantly by items(p<0.05).It shows sports game can significantly improve children's strength and flexibility.Increasement of these types of physical qualities may differ in terms of gender.Kindergartens' PE classes should use sports games more frequently as a teaching method to improve children's physical quality and help them build good sports morality as well as healthy behaviors.According to experimental results the following suggestions are recommended: For those who have physical retardations sports games can help children at the age of 5-6 strengthen several types of physical qualities at different levels.During sports game intervention the rules and purposes of a game should change according to places,players and time.So that as objects of the game,children can fully participate in it with passion and improve their physical qualities.Kindergarten teaching staff should increase the proportion of Professional Physical education teachers.In the process of using sports games to promote the physical quality development of 5-6 years old children,PE teachers can make more sports games that conform to the laws of the physical and mental development of 5-6 years old children.They can also guide children to participate in those games in a scientific way to promote the healthy development of their body and mind.The development of children's physical quality needs the joint efforts among families,schools and the society.Parents must communicate more often with teachers in order to be aware of recent conditions of their children both physically and mentally.Only in this way can parents and teachers promote children's healthy growing up together.
