Teaching clarity has always been a teacher's behavior of great concern in the field of teachers' teaching research.This research focuses on the teaching clarity of college teachers and mainly answers the following two questions: What is the present situation of teaching clarity of college teachers? What factors affect students' evaluation of teaching clarity? Specifically,this research describes the teaching clarity of college teachers in specialized courses with teaching method as the main teaching method by using the teaching clarity assessment tools compiled by foreign scholars.This research analyzes teaching clarity of college teachers and its five dimensions-fluency,teaching capacity,teacher-student interaction,coherence,and differences of teaching structure in eleven background variables.This research probes into the influence of four factors of teachers' teaching input,teachers' knowledge,students' classroom learning input and students' learning motivation on teaching clarity and its five dimensions.On the one hand,this research provides a valuable tool for university teaching managers to evaluate teaching clarity;on the other hand,it provides help for teachers to improve their own teaching clarity.The main conclusions of this study are as follows.First of all,the performance of college teachers' teaching clarity is different in all dimensions.The teaching capacity scored the lowest in the five dimensions,which shows that the current teaching rhythm and the amount of teaching content arranged by university teachers do not match the students' working memory capacity and the ability to absorb teaching content.Among the five dimensions,consistency dimension scored the highest,indicating that university teachers provided less information than others.In addition,teachers need to improve their initiative to interact with students and also need to improve the logic of their teaching ideas.Secondly,different groups of college students have different opinions on teaching clarity.Girls' evaluation of teaching clarity is higher than boys'.The overall evaluationof teaching clarity by students shows a U-shape change with the increase of educational level.Students whose subject is pedagogy have higher evaluation on the clarity of teachers' teaching than other humanities and social sciences students and science and engineering students.Based on the perspective of students,there are differences in teaching clarity among different groups of teachers.There are gender differences in teacher-student interaction dimensions.Female teachers get higher evaluation than male teachers.As teachers' professional titles and ages rise,students' evaluation of their fluency also rises.Curriculum factors will also affect students' evaluation of teaching clarity.Teachers taking compulsory courses do better in teacher-student interaction and teaching structure,while teachers taking elective courses are inferior in teaching capacity.When the class size is less than 20,the teaching clarity is the best,and when the class size exceeds 80,the teacher's teaching clarity is the worst.Thirdly,teachers' teaching input has a positive impact on all dimensions of teaching clarity,but teachers care about student evaluation has a negative impact of on coherence dimensions.Teachers' knowledge has a positive effect on teaching clarity.Students' classroom learning input not only directly and positively affects teaching clarity,but also is the intermediary factor that teachers' teaching input affects teaching clarity.Learning motivation not only directly and positively affects the clarity of teachers' teaching,but also is a regulating variable in the relationship between teachers' teaching input and students' classroom learning input.Students' external learning motivation has a negative influence on the dimension of teaching capacity.Finally,this study puts forward the following suggestions for teachers to improve their teaching clarity: teachers should increase teaching input,enrich their knowledge,reasonably control teaching capacity,actively interact with students,improve the logic of teaching ideas,help students consolidate basic knowledge,and attach importance to cultivating students' internal learning motivation.This study also puts forward twosuggestions to colleges and universities: to create an environment for teachers to clearly teach;organize teachers to participate in teaching training and establish a teaching incentive system.
