Research On Learning Motivation Of Left-behind Junior Middle School Students Based On Self-determination Theory

The research investigated the left-behind junior high school students.Based on the self-determination theory,the research uses the "Secondary Student Learning Motivation Questionnaire" as a survey tool to study the current situation of learning motivation of left-behind junior high school students.It is beneficial for teachers to grasp the situation of their learning motivation from the overall view,and find out the respective reasons.So that teachers can help students improve their motivation in a more scientific and appropriate way.The findings are summarized as follows: the internalization level of learning motivation for left-behind junior high school students is high,and the internalization level of learning motivation is mainly based on identified regulation.In the dimension of external regulation,male students are significantly higher than female students,however in the dimension of relative autonomy regulation,female students are significantly higher than male students,and female students self-determination level of learning motivation are higher than male students.Students of different grades have no significant differences with respect to the levels of external regulation,introjected regulation,identified regulation,internal motivation,controlled regulation,autonomous regulation,and relative autonomy regulation.The non-left-behind junior high school students are significantly higher in the internal motivation dimension than the left-behind ones.There is no significant difference in the degree of education between the father and the mother for the aformentioned aspects.The degree of education of the father is significantly positively correlated with the scores of language,mathematics,foreign language,historical,biological,physical and chemical of the left-behind students,while the mother's educational level of the plays an vital role in mathematics,foreign language and historical achievements.The autonomous motivation was significantly positively correlated with every subject scores.Finally,on the basis of survey data and research results,the thesis draws three suggestions for left-behind junior high school students: strengthening the school's supervisory responsibilities,cultivating good study habits and stimulating the learning motivation.
