Dewey is one of the greatest educators of the twentieth century,based on his philosophical empirical theory,epistemology,knowledge theory and psychological,put forward the educational theory has it's own system,He is the leader of American progressive education,but also put the spirit of pragmatism to the top,Dewey education theory has a wide and far-reaching impact.As a concrete teaching method and teaching mode theory,the five-step teaching method is the concentrated embodiment of his educational thought,conforms to the law of children's psychological development,considers the essence of education,its educational significance is immeasurable,and also greatly promotes the development of students' ability."Five-step teaching method" since its introduction has been a hundred years,its research and application has experienced a floating process,still has the vitality and vitality of life,so today to think about the "five-step teaching method" for the development of students what is the real significance,the research done by the previous people is not mature enough in the field,It is very necessary to analyze and evaluate the real value of the five-step teaching method,and to carry out a more comprehensive and in-depth re-understanding and research on Dewey's teaching theory with a scientific and objective attitude,so as to provide some new thinking for the realistic education.This study explores the Dewey “five-step Teaching Method” in view of the development of students' ability from seven parts:Part One: Introduction.Including the background of this study,the introduction of questions,the purpose and significance of the study,the review of Dewey's educational thought and "five-step teaching method" related research,the definition of core concepts and the research ideas and methods of this study.Part Two: the theoretical basis of "five-step teaching method".Dewey's philosophy is an important theoretical basis of his educational thought,and this chapter explores the theoretical basis of "five-step teaching method" from four aspects: experientialism,epistemology,knowledge theory and psychology.Part Three: "Five-step teaching method" put forward the background.The first is the social background,from the change of American social life and Dewey's reflection on the real social changes in the United States for analysis,and the second is the educational background,the criticism of Herbat's "five-paragraph teaching method" and the criticism of traditional teaching focus on "knowledge" are all important influencing factors put forward by the "five-step teaching method".Part Four: "five-step teaching method" analysis.The five basic steps of the "five-step teaching method" : difficult situation,determination of difficulties,hypothesis,inference,verification of assumptions for specific elaboration,analysis and evaluation.Part Five: "Five-Step Teaching Method" and student's ability development.First of all,this study explains the decomposition of ability extension,which this study holds that the extension of ability includes students' thinking ability and problem-solving ability.Secondly,it explores how the "five-step approach" develops students' ability to observe and discover problems,to analyze and judge problems,to reflect,to collect information and to practice.Part Six: The core direction and fundamental route of the "five-step teaching method"."Five-step teaching method" not only cultivates students' thinking ability and problem-solving ability,"five-step teaching method" problem-solving process,its significance also lies in cultivating students' interest,so that students gain experience and transformation,but also makes students get endogenous development,"five-step teaching method" established the students' independent learning as the core of the teaching thought.Part Seven: The contemporary embodiment of "five-step teaching method".Since the formation and dissemination of the theory of "five-step teaching method" has been innumerable since the beginning of the century,this chapter selects three contemporary teaching theories closely related to "five-step teaching method" : project-based learning,situational teaching,flipping the classroom to explore its practical application in the present and its constant vitality and vitality.
