With the continuous progress of society,since 2016,national fitness has become an important national development strategy in China.The State Council has promulgated the first five-year national fitness plan,while school physical education is also deepening reform.As a sport which can combine intelligence and physical strength perfectly,orienteering can train not only students' physical quality,but also abilities of independent thinking,team cooperation,field survival and problem solving quickly.Under the encouragement and support of the superior geographical environment and national policies of Sichuan province,some universities in Sichuan province have launched the orienteering course.In order to promote the construction of orienteering courses,improve the quality of the implementation and personnel training of orienteering courses in colleges and universities in Sichuan Province,this paper selects six colleges and universities: Sichuan Agricultural University,Sichuan Normal University,Chengdu Sport Institute,Southwest Medical University,Leshan Normal University and Sichuan Tourism University as the survey objects to researches the current situation of the implementation by using the methods of literature,expert interview,questionnaire survey,field survey and statistics to analyze and explore the deficiencies in the implementation of orienteering courses in colleges and universities in Sichuan province,and puts forward suggestions for improvement.After research,the conclusions are as follows:1.The orienteering courses in colleges and universities in Sichuan Province have made some achievements,met the needs of basic personnel training,established a complete teaching program and the implementation of the teaching content plan is fairly good after more than ten years of development.2.Some colleges and universities offer orienteering courses in public physical education courses,which meet the development direction of physical education curriculum reform,and enrich physical education courses,but the depth and popularity need to be improved.3.In the orienteering compulsory courses and elective courses of Sports Specialties in colleges and universities of Sichuan province,there are unreasonable time allocation of theory and practice: too much emphasis on practice and neglect of theory teaching.4.There is little training for teachers of orienteering course,and there is no way to improve teachers' professional ability.5.The implementation effect of orienteering courses in universities and colleges in sichuan province is good,and both teachers and students are active in orienteering courses,indicating broad prospects for future development.6.The major factors affecting the implementation of orienteering courses in universities and colleges in Sichuan province are the limitation of teaching sites,insufficient orientation maps,lack of teaching equipment and student safety issues.Finally,based on the above discussion results,this paper proposes the following five suggestions:1.Deepen the teaching of orienteering in the public physical ducation and broaden students' learning areas,such as parks or hills near schools.2.Increase the ways to improve the professional ability of teachers,and hold the training of provincial Orienteering teachers and map-making regularly.3.Supplement the electronic equipment and safety monitoring equipment(real-time GPS)to meet needs of teaching and learning for orienteering course.4.Strengthen the resource sharing among schools and optimize the teaching mode.5.Promote the construction of orienteering associations actively as well as creating orienteering atmosphere on campus,which can conduct from the consummation of student associations,regular organization of orienteering competitions by schools,creation a cultural card of campus orienteering.
