Chinese,as a foundational subject,not only plays an important role in senior high school courses but also has a vital political and cultural function.Chinese textbooks,as a major vehicle that presents class content and targets,reflect editors' pursuit of values as well as countries' mainstream ideologies and value orientation,which have an important influence on students' emotions,attitudes,outlooks and values,and play an exemplary role for them.Based on the above,the author considers the value orientation of senior high school Chinese textbooks a subject worth studying.This thesis,with five Chinese compulsory textbooks published by People's Education Press for senior high school as research objects on the methods of literature and content study,aims at probing into the proportion and presenting ways of the set of textbooks' value orientation in order to learn whether the textbooks' values fulfill new curriculum standard's teaching objectives.Then according to the study,some relevant suggestions will be given and expected to be helpful to the composition of textbooks in the future and for the teachers using this set of textbooks so as to exert Chinese education and values.This thesis has three chapters.The first chapter mainly presents the current study situations about textbooks' value orientation at home and aboard,as well as defines relevant core concepts.Then with the study framework built according to related theoretical foundation,this part will divide values into eight aspects,which are person,family,society,country,ethnic group,nature,world,and others,and set up the study projects.The second chapter will sort out and analyze the values and presenting ways on the textbooks,which is the important character of this thesis.It starts with the frequency statistical analysis on the eight values and then carries on the analysis on the subordinate categories of each value.The third chapter is a summary of the value orientation presented on the textbooks.Firstly,this part concludes that the value orientation of the set of textbooks conforms toour country's mainstream ideology and fine cultural traditions;however,some inadequacies are that the textbooks' values are not in accordance with new curriculum standard teaching objects and that the presenting ways are not reasonable enough.Secondly,based on the completed analysis,some advice will be proposed for the textbooks' values proportion,presenting ways and content as well as for teachers' transformation of teaching ways,raising awareness of conveying values,and so on.
