The study engagement of international students in China is an important yardstick to measure the quality of education for international students,and the increase in investment in studying abroad can promote the improvement of the educational quality of international students.However,as China has not yet established a complete educational evaluation system for international students,many colleges and universities have fallen into misunderstandings,ignoring the engagement and experience of international students in their studies,making the quality of education for international students continuously low.To this end,this study takes J University as an example,and investigated the study engagement of international students in China.The purpose is to understand the international students' views and feelings about their study and school education,so that the problems in the quality of international students' education can be analyzed and further suggestions for optimization can be made.Based on the NSSE survey instrument,this study adjusted the original questionnaire according to the characteristics of international students in J university,and compiled the "Study Engagement Questionnaire for International students from J University".Through sampling,questionnaire distribution and recovery,a total of 133 valid data were obtained,followed by data analysis using SPSS 24.0 and Excel 2016,and the following conclusions were drawn:1.The overall study engagement of international students from J University in China is at the middle-low level,and the academic gains of international students from J University in China are not enough,but they are generally satisfied with their studies and life.In terms of the relationship between study engagement,personal gain,and satisfaction,the personal gain and satisfaction of J University students studying in China are related to each sub-dimensions of study engagement in different level.2.The dimensions of study engagement and the self-assessment of international students differ in different demographic variables: The scores of international students of different genders,ages,birthplaces,majors,degree categories and class types aredifferent in study engagement and self-assessment,but the differences are few significant.3.Based on the data analysis conclusions,this study found 6 major problems in the quality of education for international students in China: The teaching management of international students in China lacks a top-level design,the main role of international students in education is ignored,the quality standards of education for import and export of international students in China are low,and the construction of an international faculty for international students in China is not complete,there is a lack of diversity in the channels,and the development of cross-cultural competence of international students in China is limited.Therefore,in order to improve the education quality of international students in a targeted manner,colleges and universities need to establish a student-oriented education concept for international students in China,a unique curriculum system for international students in China,a rich and diverse teaching model for international students in China,comprehensively strengthen the construction of the teaching staff of international students in China,and improve the quality guarantee system for the education of international students in China.
