"Mentoring" is a common method of teacher training in primary and secondary schools in China,especially for the beginning teachers who have been employed for a short time.Beginning teachers are an important part of school teachers,and the professional development of beginning teachers determines the quality of education to a great extent.The early stage of entry is the key link of teacher's professional development.Therefore,it is urgent to promote the professional development of beginning teachers.The narrate research method and literature review method in education are applied in this thesis.This study takes a new teacher as the research object.It penetrates into this teacher's educational and teaching situations,and collect narrative content by means of interviewing and observing.This thesis discusses the influence of mentoring on the professional knowledge,professional ability and professional spirit of the new teachers through analyzing the story.It deepens people's understanding of mentoring,arouses the thinking on the problems of mentoring and the professional development of new teachers,and provides some references and thinking for the implementation of mentoring in middle schools.The research content of this paper is mainly composed of four parts:The first chapter is the introduction of the background mainly from the requirements of the new round of basic education reform,the significance of teacher professional development,the problems faced by the beginning teachers.The author defines the core concepts of new teachers,teacher's professional development and mentoring after the review of the theories of teacher's professional development stage,the status of the implementation of mentoring and the literature on the impact of mentoring on the professional development of new teachers at home and abroad.The second chapter explains the selection of research objects,the determination of research methods and the research ideas and process.The third chapter presents the professional development story of the research object.Through interviews,in-depth research objects,to understand the professional development status of new teachers.In this part,the story is told in the first person according the time clues and the professional development as the main line,presenting the professional development story happened under the guidance of the teacher on the spot.The fourth chapter analyzes the growth of new teachers in the three aspects of professional knowledge,professional ability and professional spirit under mentoring and analyzes the factors affecting the teaching effect.The fifth chapter,on the basis of the first four chapters,puts forward strategies and suggestions to improve the effectiveness of field teaching in promoting the professional development of beginning teachers.
