Mentoring has been widely used in primary and secondary schools as a common way of teacher training,especially for the newly recruited staff of teachers.The discussion about how the mentoring aflfect the professional development of the beginning teachers has attracted much attention in recent years.The discussion on mentoring is basically experiential and fragmentary in the domestic and foreign study,but the lack of some theoretical research.We tries to make a much more history and practice research on mentoring based on teacher professional development background,mainly using case research and interview method.This study made a theoretical interpretation about the concept and history of mentoring which brought some forward thinking to mentoring management and execution of the teacher professional development.This paper consists of five parts.The introduction is about the literature review,qualitative research methods and the definition of basic concepts.Firstly,this study reviewed the history and development of mentoring,and then discussed the teachers' professional quality structure and development process.Secondly,we discussed the foundation,operation and management of the mentoring system in a widely perspective.The second chapter include the appointment of guide teachers,the establishment of the mentoring relationship,instruction content and guiding method,evaluation and incentive system.Lastly,we survey the establishment and operation of mentoring in K school of Nanjing city.The practice investigate of the mentoring carried out in the education is mainly about the presentation and analysis of cases,and some corresponding evaluation and suggestion at the same time.
