Promoting the professional development of supervisors is not only the basic requirement for the construction of postgraduate supervisor team in China,but also the basic means to guarantee the quality of postgraduate education in China.At present,there are various problems in our postgraduate education,such as the alienation of teacher-student relationship and the lack of guidance from supervisors.The key to solve these problems is to promote the professional development of postgraduate supervisors so as to improve their professional quality.So,what is the basic model of the professional development of graduate supervisors in China?What does it include?What's the problem?How to further reform the model in order to better promote the professional quality of graduate supervisors in the future? A good answer to those questions is not only related to the improvement of the professional quality of our graduate supervisors,but also related to the improvement of the quality of our graduate education.This study "research on the professional development model of graduate supervisors in China",based on the theories related to the professional development of teachers in universities,and the quality standards for the professional development of graduate supervisors,and takes 56 universities with graduate students in China as the analysis objects.Using the methods of literature research,policy text analysis,case study and so on,and taking the goal,organizational structure,content system,way,guarantee and incentive mechanism of the professional development of graduate supervisors as the analytical framework,this paper systematically discusses the basic model of the professional development of graduate supervisors in China.The specific research conclusions are as follows:Basic aspects of the professional development model of postgraduate supervisors in China include: the supervisors` qualification,responsibility and training purpose constitute the professional development target system of supervisors,and reflect the requirements for quality standards of professional development of supervisors,such as academic research level,guiding ability,ethics and self role cognition and management ability.In terms of the platform for theprofessional development of supervisors,the graduate school takes the lead in the professional development of supervisors,and collaborates with the teacher development center and the professional college.The establishment of specialized organizations such as supervisor service centers and supervisor schools is still only a small number of universities.The content system of the professional development of supervisors is composed of the national policies and regulations on postgraduate education,the experience of excellent supervisors,the quality requirements of good supervisors,various problems in the process of guidance,the application of scientific research projects and advanced scientific research methods,and the cultivation of supervisors' ethics.Supervisors training and study class,supervisors reflection on their own guidance practice,participation in scientific research practice and training,system constraints and teacher ethics training form the path of supervisor professional development.The system and policy of the state and the university,honor incentive guarantee and encourage the professional development of supervisors.On this basis,the study further analyzes and finds that there is a lack of specialized organizations in the basic model of the professional development of supervisors in China.The content of the development is single,which is out of touch with the actual needs of the supervisors` professional development.The development path is a mere formality,which makes it difficult to effectively implement the content of supervisors` professional development.Problems such as insufficient guarantee and incentive mechanism.The reason is that the state and universities have not paid enough attention to the "professional development of postgraduate supervisors",the corresponding system and policies are not perfect,and the initiative and subjectivity of supervisors themselves are not given full play.In order to solve the problems existing in the professional development model of graduate supervisors in China,the research also analyzed the professional development model of graduate supervisors in the UK and Australia.The professional development model of supervisors in the UK includes: setting development goals focusing on the guidance ability of supervisors;Internal and external organization cooperation support;Content system based on the actual needs of the supervisors` professional development;Diversified development paths;Guarantee,restraint and incentive mechanism coexist.The professional development model of Australian graduate supervisors includes: making it clear that the supervisors' guidance ability is the core goal;Specialized organizations provide a platform for the professional development of supervisors;Enrich the content of supervisors professional development based on the actual needs of supervisors` professional development;Integrate multiple paths and measures ofsupervisors` professional development;To improve the guarantee and incentive mechanism for supervisors' professional development.Based on the existing problems in the professional development model of postgraduate supervisors in China and the reference points in the UK and Australia,this paper puts forward some Suggestions for the improvement of the professional development model of postgraduate supervisors in China.Provide a special development platform for supervisors;Enrich the content of supervisors' professional development based on the actual needs of supervisors` professional development;Integrate the path and measures of the supervisors` professional development;We will improve the system and policy guarantee and honor incentive for the professional development of supervisors.
