With the development of information technology,more and more people get information and deal with related business through digital interface.At present,colleges are in the stage of deepening reform,paying more attention to the teaching quality of students,and the information about students' course selection is also increasing.Students need to use college course selection system when choosing courses in the semester,so it will be better user experience that a good college course selection system interface brings.In the course selection process,students usually need to process and make decisions on a large amount of course selection information in a short period of time,which may easily lead to the phenomenon of cognitive overload,thus affecting user experience.Therefore,based on the cognitive load theory,this paper optimizes the interface of the existing college course selection system,so as to reduce the cognitive load of students in the course selection process.The main research work is as follows:First of all,the paper has sorted out cognitive load theory,and has clarified the concept,classification and components of cognitive load,and has summarized the universality,recessive,dynamic and adjustable characteristics of cognitive load.After explaining the related concepts of interface design,the paper has described phenomenon of cognitive overload in interface design.Secondly,the paper analyzes the causes of cognitive load in interface design from three aspects: kernel,external dominance and interaction,and then puts forward corresponding adjustment strategies for cognitive load in interface design.Then,the index evaluation system of cognitive load in interface design is constructed according to the evaluation basis of the cognitive load.Thirdly,the cognitive load in the interface design of the current college course selection system is evaluated.After establishing the cognitive load evaluation system in the interface design of college course selection system,the author obtained and analyzed the cognitive load evaluation index data,analyzed the causes of the cognitive load overload in the interface design of college course selection system,and found the problem of cognitive load overload.Then,according to the causes of cognitive load in the interface design of the existing college course selection system,from the perspective of the five elements of user experience,the interface optimization design of the college course selection system is guided by the adjustment strategy of cognitive load in the interface design.Finally,through the experiment to university course selection system optimization interface evaluation,to achieve the university course selection system interface optimization before and after the cognitive load level score comparison.The evaluation results show that the cognitive load level in the interface design of the optimized college course selection system is lower than that in the existing system interface,which proves the feasibility and effectiveness of the optimized design,and further validates the rationality of the cognitive load regulation strategy in the interface design.In this study,the components of cognitive load were clarified,and the causes of cognitive load in interface design were summarized on this basis.Then,the adjustment strategies of cognitive load in interface design were proposed according to the causes,and the index evaluation system of cognitive load in interface design was constructed.Finally,the design practice proves that the applied theory research can provide theoretical support for the interface optimization design of college course selection system,and also provide reference for the cognitive load research in the interface design.
