In the 21 st century,the aging of human society is gradually worsening.With the vigorous development of the mobile Internet era,an endless stream of information products abound in all aspects of people's life,which will inevitably exert a great impact on the life of the elderly.Learned,access to information is the elderly is the main part of Internet life,and the elderly as a result of body function decline in cognitive ability is weak,so compared with the general population,they demand for news,information,products are unique,most news,information class APP currently on the market very few based on cognitive characteristics in the elderly and the demand,This will cause a lot of trouble and burden to the elderly,so this paper will apply the cognitive load theory and combine the cognitive characteristics and needs of the elderly to optimize the interface design of the existing news APP,so as to reduce the cognitive load of the elderly in the operation process.The research process is as follows:Firstly,the concept and classification of cognitive load theory are clarified.To clarify the interface design concept and process.Based on the cognitive load influencing factors and case analysis,the causes of cognitive load in interface design were proposed,and then the adjustment strategies were summarized based on literature research.Secondly,the measurement indexes and methods of cognitive load were analyzed.The NASA-TLX subjective evaluation scale method,eye movement experiment method and mission performance method were selected to carry out the measurement experiment.The initial weight calculation of the evaluation indexes was also carried out.Thirdly,the cognitive characteristics of the elderly are summarized.Based on the causes and regulation strategies of cognitive load in the interface design mentioned above,the causes and regulation strategies of cognitive load in the interface design for the elderly are proposed in combination with survey,interview and literature research.Fourth,based on the above research to build the old APP cognitive load evaluation system,determine and content of the prototype,the experiment process,after the access to the experimental data,analyze the experimental data and user behavior,combined with the above strategy to optimize the existing interface design,and then the modified interface and also handled in the process of experiment and obtain the result of the experiment.The results of the two experiments are compared to verify the effectiveness of the optimization design.In this study,combing the concept,classification and interface design concept,the cognitive load flow,combining literature research and case analysis concluded that the cognitive load in the design of interface causes and adjust strategies,and build the evaluation system,and combining the theory of cognitive characteristics in the elderly will embodiment strategy,combined with the optimized design,the conclusion Finally,through data comparison,it is confirmed that this optimization design effectively reduces the cognitive load of the elderly in the process of interface operation,promotes the efficiency of information acquisition for the elderly,and further expands the research field of the application of cognitive load theory in interface design,providing some suggestions for future researchers in this direction.
