According to the data of the sixth census, the proportion of the rural elderly over 60 years old to the total rural population is as high as 14.98%,which is far beyond the international standards of aging, making the rural areas seriously be lack of pension resources and social pension vacancy. At the same time, with the promotion of urbanization, the combined effect of multiple factors such as the loss of rural labor population, the shrinking of family scale, and the changes of social transformation and so on,the intergenerational relationship between the rural elderly and their children changes, the intergenerational focus moves down, and the function of family pension gradually weakens, which has a profound impact on the care arrangement of the rural elderly. From the perspective of seeking the safety of the elderly, the parents will increase their investment in their children to strengthen the closeness of the intergenerational relationship with their children.Driven by the formation of emotional relationship and the demonstration effect on their children, the children will,to a certain extent, perform the responsibility of family pension, that is,when their parents are old, give back their support and assistance. Can the elderly in rural areas get the corresponding intergenerational return from their children? Using the data of China's pension and follow-up survey in 2015,this study empirically studies the impact of parental support on the supporting behavior of rural elderly children, trying to put forward corresponding policy recommendations,in order to solve the problem of rural pension,to address the weakening of family pension function brought about by the aging population, family structure and the changes in intergenerational relations, and to improve the quality of life of the rural elderly. This paper is divided into five chapters to study parental support and child support behavior.Chapter three, chapter four and chapter five are the core chapters. The main research contents are as follows:(1)introduce the data sources, research methods and measurement models used in this paper, carry out descriptive statistical analysis on the data, understand the current situation of rural elderly people's parental support and child support behavior, master the overall situation of rural family pension(2)Based on the Charles data, this paper uses the binary logistic model,OLS model and ordered probit model to test the influence of parental support on the economic support behavior of their children, spiritual comfort behavior and life care behavior of the rural elderly.(3)By introducing three intermediary variables of children's economic level, intergenerational relationship and living distance, this paper reveals the mechanism of the influence of parental support on children's support behavior. The findings are as follows: first, descriptive analysis shows that there is a relatively frequent interaction between the elderly in rural areas, and the phenomenon of providing alternative care support for the elderly in rural areas is more common, and with the aging of parents, the alternative care support will gradually decrease;the level of education investment in rural areas is generally not high;as high as 90.52%of the elderly in rural areas can obtain corresponding economic support from their children, but the amount of economic support is relatively low,and the rural elderly are relatively lack of life care.Only 19.35% of the rural elderly can get their children's life care, which shows that the adult children have the advantage of economic resources but the advantage of time resources is insufficient.Second, the empirical analysis shows that in rural areas, parental support can significantly affect children's support behavior, except that education investment has a significant negative impact on life care support, the others are positive.Among them,in terms of economic support, education investment has the greatest impact, and in terms of spiritual comfort and life care support for the elderly in rural areas, intergenerational care support has the greatestimpact. There is a sustainable intergenerational transfer relationship between education investment and economic support for children's old-age support.Increasing early education investment on children can improve the material and spiritual living standards of the elderly in rural areas;the elderly in rural areas who are providing intergenerational care for their grandchildren in rural areas can get more economic?life care and spiritual comfort support, and the elderly in rural areas can take care of their grandchildren and make contributions to the family, which can be better. We should complement the advantages of free time of the elderly with the advantages of economic resources of their children, and strengthen the function of family pension.Third, the mechanism of action shows that the influence of parental support on children's support behavior needs to be based on their economic level, good intergenerational relationship and living distance. In terms of economic support, children's economic level, intergenerational relationship and living distance play an intermediary role;in terms of spiritual comfort, intergenerational relationship plays an intermediary role;in terms of living care, living distance plays an intermediary role. Finally, based on the conclusions above, the paper puts forward some policy suggestions to improve the quality of life of the elderly in rural areas.Under the condition of limited available resources, the government should not only encourage the family to provide for the aged, but also publicize the filial piety, improve the pension security system, improve the level of rural elderly people's participation in the insurance, and reduce the dependence on their children's economy;optimize the educational resources and conditions in rural areas,so as to ensure the gradual improvement of the education level of rural children;encourage the rural elderly to actively play the "residual heat" ”To help children share social pressure, enhance the function of family pension, contribute to the active aging of the country, and save pension resources.
