Sino-thai Agricultural Cooperation Research

Agriculture is the key cooperation area identified in the "Framework Agreement for Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between China and ASEAN".Agricultural cooperation is at the forefront of cooperation between China and ASEAN countries,which is determined by the fundamental position of agriculture in the national economy.With the full implementation of the CAFTA in 2010,China and Thailand have achieved major breakthroughs in agricultural cooperation,including agricultural trade,planting,agricultural products processing,aquaculture,rural energy and ecology,and animal disease prevention and control.Exploration and practice have achieved good results.However,due to factors such as differences in the level of economic development between the two sides,bilateral agricultural cooperation is still at a lower level,in the face of the proposal to build an upgraded version of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area in 2013,and the transformation of their respective agricultural industrialization in China and Thailand.The major opportunities for upgrading,how to further promote Sino-Thai agricultural cooperation,accelerate the upgrading of the agricultural industry,and enhance the international competitiveness of both sides of agriculture have become major practical issues that need to beresolved.The introductory part of the paper elaborates on the significance of the cooperation between Thailand and China in agriculture,and summarizes the shortcomings of the current literature based on actual research.The relevant concepts and research categories involved in this study are briefly described.The main part of the thesis starts with the actual situation of China-Thailand agricultural cooperation,and analyzes the overall level and characteristics of agricultural development in China and Thailand,the current situation of agricultural cooperation between China and Thailand,and the real problems they face;then,based on the conditions for agricultural development,the analysis will be conducted.Demonstrate the possible complementary advantages of agriculture between China and Thailand in terms of agricultural resources,agricultural technology and agricultural trade,and adopt the regression analysis of trade competitiveness index,export similarity index and agricultural investment and trade,and provide complementary advantages.Conduct empirical tests.Based on the foregoing research,we propose three measures to deepen China-Thailand agricultural cooperation:deepening complementary agricultural cooperation,focusing on strengthening agricultural science and technology and industrial cooperation,and promoting China-Thailand agricultural cooperation environment optimization.
