The Study On The Division Of Urban Functional In Taiyuan Metropolitan Area

In recent years,during the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei,Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta metropolitan areas,there has been a shift in the intra-industry division of labor to the division of functions,that is,cities within the metropolitan area have occupied different parts of the industrial chain for division of labor,the central cities have played the function of productive services,and the peripheral cities have played the manufacturing function.As one of the 14 metropolitan areas in China,Taiyuan metropolitan area has not yet formed a reasonable division of labor and cooperation mechanism.Thus,the study of urban functional division in Taiyuan metropolitan area can provide theoretical basis and effective suggestions for clarifying the functional orientation of cities and achieving the development of complementary dislocation between cities.Based on the perspective of urban functional division of labor,this paper first applies the theory of comparative advantage,factor endowment theory,scale economy theory and industrial location theory to the analysis of urban function division of labor,and explores the division of labor among different links of the industrial chain in cities to provide a theoretical basis for this article;Secondly,it uses the location entropy and the urban function division index to analyze the status of urban functional division in Taiyuan metropolitan area;Then it analyzes the evolution process of urban functional division in Taiyuan metropolitan area,analyzes in depth the main factors affecting the urban functional division of Taiyuan metropolitan area,and empirically analyzes these influencing factors using the panel model.The research shows that:(1)The division of urban functions in Taiyuan metropolitan area has been initially formed,but its overall level is low,Taiyuan and Jinzhong have played the function of productive services,and other cities have played the manufacturing function.(2)The evolution process of urban functional division in Taiyuan metropolitan area is the process of location selection by different enterprises or different departments within different companies,the main factors affecting the level of urban functional division are traffic conditions,factor costs,human capital,factor aggregation,government intervention,and openness to the outside world.(3)The empirical results show that labor costs,human capital,and factor agglomeration have significantly improved the level of urban functional division in Taiyuan metropolitan area,and government intervention has significantly inhibited the division of urban functions.Based on above analysis,this paper argues that the formation of complementary industrial spatial pattern,the strengthening of transportation system,the transformation of government functions and the coordinated development with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area can improve the level of urban functional division in Taiyuan metropolitan area and realize the inter-city complementarity and dislocation development.
