Under the background of economic globalization, the international division of labor model of global value chains emerged. The traditional statistical method of international trade based on the statistical method of total value in trade has serious problems of repeated calculation, and it is easy to cause trade "statistical illusions".The added value in trade method based on the added value of trade value is more suitable for the analysis of international trade statistics under the global value chain model.China is a major producer and trader of the wood processing industry. In 2014,the total value of China's wood processing industry reached more than 400 billion U.S.dollars,accounting for 41.14%of the total value of the world's wood processing industry, and exports reached 18.5 billion U.S.dollars,accounting for 14.87%of the world's total exports. However, while China's wood processing industry is developing rapidly,it also faces many challenges.Firstly,in the domestic sector, the scale of the enterprises is small, and the degree of intensification is not high. Most of the forestry enterprises are in the primary processing stage. The quality of the products is relatively low,the added value is relatively low,and there are less products for fine processing.Meanwhile, the lack of talents, low technological innovation ability, the increase of labor cost and the comparative advantage of labor force are no longer significant, making it easy for China's wood processing industry to be overestimated in foreign trade and eventually plunges into a "comparative advantage trap".Secondly, internationally,Southeast Asia and other countries with resource endowments have joined the international division of labor market;the quality requirements of the international market for forest products are constantly improving;the green barriers, and technical barriers of forest products have increased the cost of import and export trade, and caused frequent trade disputes and so on.In order to explore the actual situation of the international competitiveness of China's wood processing industry under the new situation and get rid of the "comparative advantage trap" brought by traditional trade statistics methods, this paper evaluates the international competitiveness of China's wood processing industry from the perspective of value added in trade.Firstly, analyzing the production and trade of China's wood processing industry and getting a preliminary understanding of the international status of China's wood processing industry.Secondly, using the International Market Share(MS)and the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index(RCA)two evaluation indicators, using the entropy weight method to integrate the two indicators together for the comparative analysis of the international competitiveness of wood processing industry based on two statistical methods of total value in trade and added value in trade.Thirdly, based on the generalized double diamond model's analytical framework, the influencing factors of the international competitiveness of the wood processing industry are designed, and panel models are used for empirical analysis. Finally, the conclusions are as follows:first,China's wood processing industry is developing rapidly and its international competitiveness is constantly increasing.Second,it is of great significance to study the international competitiveness of China's wood processing industry by means of value added in trade.Third, the key influencing factors promote the growth of the international competitiveness of China's wood processing industry. The empirical analysis finds that key influencing factors such as forest resources, labor resources,GDP,and marketization index have a significant positive effect on improving the international competitiveness of China's wood processing industry.Accordingly, this paper puts forward eight policy recommendations for improving the international competitiveness of China's wood processing industry:(1)Cultivate domestic forest resources vigorously;(2)Strengthen the cultivation and management of talents;(3)Cultivate and expand the domestic consumer market;(4)Increase the added value of wood processing industry products and expand exports;(5)The government must strengthen infrastructure construction;(6)Industries should strengthen cooperation among industries and strengthen the links between upstream and downstream industries;(7)Accelerate the process of market-oriented reform of the wood processing industry;(8)Accelerate the transformation and upgrading of wood processing industry.
