Influencing Factors On International Competitiveness Of Papermaking Industry In China From The Perspective Of Low-carbon Economy

Dramatic change in the global climate causes the high attention from all over the world.The UNFCCC established by the United Nations in 1992 requires developed countries and developing countries to undertake obligations for controlling global warming.After that,all countries make strategy actively to response to climate change.At the same time,the world financial crisis in 2008 was a great shock to the world economy,especially to Europe,the United States and Japan,so low carbon economy is recommended as the new economic growth model.As response to climate change,countries have taken various measures in the name of the low carbon to protect domestic industry development and competitive advantage.Low carbon factor exists in every link of production,consumption and trade,becomes an important constraint to the industrial development of all countries.The global environment of energy saving and emission reduction puts forward the request to low carbon competitiveness of our country papermaking industry development.In the past,a large number of consumption of natural resources and the development model for the cost of environmental damage just gain short-term benefit,which was more harm than good in the long run.This energy intensive,highly polluting and highly polluting production mode of operation has been unable to keep up with the trend of social development.Under the perspective of low carbon,the international competitiveness of China's papermaking industry is the direction and focus of the study.The aim of the study is to evaluate objectively the international competitiveness of China's papermaking industry under the perspective of low carbon and determine its international status.According to the generalized double diamond model,the paper builds new analysis framework of papermaking industry of international competitiveness and determines main factors of the international competitiveness of the papermaking industry under the perspective of low carbon from the theoretical analysis and model validation.The significance of the study is to improve the national and papermaking industry's awareness of low carbon and build new thoughts that can strengthen international competitiveness of the papermaking industry.Based on the perspective of low carbon,the paper study the international competitiveness of China's papermaking industry.The paper not only considers the economic interests,but measures a coefficient of economy and environment on the international competitiveness,which is a kind of sustainable competitive advantage.Based on the above goals and significance,firstly,this paper makes descriptive statistical analysis on China and the world of paper products of production,consumption and trade and states the variation of the trade environment of China's papermaking industry.Secondly,this paper carrys out an objective evaluation on China and several other countries of papermaking industry's international competitiveness and low carbon competitiveness by the traditional international competitiveness evaluation index and carbon productivity index.Thirdly,based on the generalized double diamond model,this paper states main factors of the international competitiveness of the papermaking industry under the perspective of low carbon from the theoretical analysis.At last,the paper determines the main influencing factors of the papermaking industry of international competitiveness by panel data model.The main conclusions are as follows:firstly,China's papermaking production is the first in the world,exports and imports are sixth and fifth respectively in the world,China's papermaking industry is on the rise;but China has been a net importer and compared with the papermaking's powerful nation,China's papermaking industry's international competitiveness is weak.At low carbon economy era,China's papermaking industry trade environment is undergoing great changes,which brings a lot of uncertain factors to improve China's papermaking industry international competitiveness.Secondly,compared with other countries,carbon productivity and the carbon intensity of China's papermaking industry are higher.Low carbon become new constraints restricting the development of China's papermaking industry.Thirdly,measurement results of panel data model show:on the one hand,the production of paper pulp,labor resources endowment,papermaking export diversity index,international competitiveness of printing industry,paper pulp import have a positive significant effect on international competitiveness of papermaking industry,but degree of dependence on export has a negative impact on it without considering the low carbon constraints.On the other hand,the production of paper pulp,labour resources endowment,Internet user,paper pulp import have a positive significant effect on international competitiveness of papermaking industry,and degree of dependence on export marketization index have a negative impact on it under the condition of carbon constraints.This shows that the raw material and labor are an important decision factors of papermaking industry,domestic and international market demand is a driving force of the papermaking industry international competitiveness,development of related industries directly affect the international competitiveness of papermaking industry and enterprise strategy and competition condition is one of the important factors affecting the papermaking industry international competitiveness.According to the above conclusions,the government and papermaking industry should pay attention to the domestic and foreign related conditions,planting and breeding of forest and the development of relevant industries,improve labour productivity,actively guide the domestic and foreign demand,strengthen the construction of infrastructure and low carbon environmental protection consciousness,save energy resources to promote the sustainable development of papermaking industry and improve the international competitiveness.
