Research On Agricultural Development In North Korea

North Korea has kept its closed state for a long time.With a flood in the 90s of last century,North Korea suffered a serious food crisis and had to send a assistant request to the international community.This crisis attracted extensive attentions from societies globally.Since then,North Korea continued to accept the assistances from the international community,to some extent alleviated its food crisis.However,since 2008,Li Mingbo moved in QingWaTai and the frozen relationship with the North Korea caused a serious shortage of grain again.Although its agriculture is limited by the natural conditions,the most important effect is from the low level of its agricultural production and slow self-development.It is difficult to meet the basic grain demand in North KoreaFrom the narrow definition of agriculture,researching the evidences of agricultural development in North Korea,it is found that there is not only frequent natural disasters,but agricultural policy errors.So,the soil erosion became more serious,causing serious impacts on the chronic decline of soil,soil acidity,and the reutilization of land.Although North Korea has made some improvements and changes in its agriculture since 21st Century,the effect has been discounted by the constraints of national conditions.In this regard,from the angle of agricultural technology and policy change,this paper puts forward the proposal for the development of North Korean agriculture.Also,pointing out the importance of the implementation of the policy relating to opening to the outside world,taking the export oriented strategy,and integrating the world economy.As a cause of the exposure of the North Korean nuclear issue,its agricultural problem needs the support of the international community,especially its neighbor countries,South Korea and China,and its self-efforts in the long-term basis.This paper also analyzes the possibility of the development of North Korean agriculture from two perspectives,the domestic and international community respectively,hoping to provide useful references for solving the agriculture problems in North Korean.This paper,according to the main theoretical basis of the theory of agricultural connotation,effect and influencing factors,uses data sorting into tables or maps,combined with quantitative and qualitative analysis,presenting the current situations of North Korean Agriculture in 21st Century and seeking the main problems.There are five main problems,first,its agricultural management system is low efficiency.Second,the financial input to agriculture is less.Third,the backward agricultural cultivation technology leads to the decline of the land force.Fourth,the output of chemical fertilizer is seriously inadequate.Fifth,North Korea kept its closing state policy.If North Korea can deepen the reform of its agricultural production system and circulation mechanism,increasing the fiscal revenue from agriculture,promoting the agricultural technology progress,increasing the input of chemical fertilizer,strengthening the international cooperation,actively implementing the reform of the domestic economic system and opening to the outside world,and adopting the export oriented economic development strategy to solve the above problems.If North Korea solve the problems,it can achieve the development of agriculture.Otherwise,its goal of the agricultural development cannot be realized.
