In recent years,with the increasing demand for mass tourism,the competition in tourist sources is more and more fierce.The competition in tourism industry is also different from the competition for resources in the past,but focuses on the level of tourism image.The tourism image has gradually become an important factor when tourists make travelling plans.Therefore,the tourism city needs to establish and improve the tourism image and takes it as the main means to enhance its influence and achieve the purpose of attracting tourists.This is also the key factor of current market competition.With the improvement of people' material living conditions,travelling becomes a process of experience.Experience is also regarded as a product,which is consumed by tourists.The process of travelling experience is actually the interpretation process of symbols,which has more distinctive cultural connotation and symbolic meaning.Therefore,when developing tourism industry,people need to pay more attention to the excavation and propaganda of symbolic culture,so that tourists can communicate with symbolic culture of tourist attractions in spiritual level and finally get differentiated tourism experience and achieve the purpose of tourism.For operators of tourism destinations,a good symbolic tourism experience can not only bring consumers a pleasant tourism experience but also can obtain greater economic benefits and enhance the image and status of tourism.Wushan County has a long history and profound cultural heritage.It is the throat of the ancient “Silk Road”.There are numerous cultural relics,historic sites and abundant tourism resources.The contribution of the tourism industry to the economy has been continuously improved.The local government also attaches great importance to the development of the tourism industry and supports it as a key industry.Based on the semiotic analysis of semiotic theory and tourism image perception,this paper firstly combs and analyzes the symbolic system of Wushan County tourism image,including symbols for pre-trip and on-trip image.Secondly,through the combination of questionnaires and face-to-face interviews,the survey of tourists' perceptions of tourism image symbols in Wushan County was conducted.Based on the data obtained from the survey,an empirical analysis on the tourist image symbols of Wushan County was conducted,and the empirical conclusions were summarized.Finally,incombination with the findings,the following suggestions are made:First,construct a symbolic interpretation system to improve the perceived degree of the signifier;second,strengthen the medium of tourism image symbol transmission to enhance the breadth and depth of symbol propagation;third,fully develop the brand resource symbols,and create the characteristic blessing cultural symbol system;fourth,improve the symbol system of tourism images and create high-quality tourist routes;fifth,create a good tourism environment symbol to enhance the overall tourism image.
